Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the accuracy of MRI in diagnosing ankle injuries compared to arthroscopy findings in patients with chronic ankle pain or instability.
  • MRI showed 100% specificity for diagnosing tears in specific ligaments and osteochondral lesions but had lower sensitivity, particularly for CFL tears.
  • The conclusion suggests that while MRI is reliable for identifying certain injuries, negative MRI results should be taken seriously, and further arthroscopy may be necessary for a definitive diagnosis.
