Few studies examine health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Arabic-speaking multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. However, HRQoL tools such as the Short Form-36 QoL instrument (SF-36) and the Multiple Sclerosis International QoL (MusiQoL) questionnaire have been validated in other languages. The primary objective of this study was to prospectively assess HRQoL using the MusiQoL questionnaire among Arabic-speaking MS patients treated with subcutaneous interferon (sc IFN -1a) over 12 months, as part of a prospective, multinational, multicenter cohort study.

"Cladribine tablets 10 mg" refers to a total cumulative dose of cladribine given over 2 years (henceforth referred to as cladribine tablets 3.5 mg/kg); it is a relatively new treatment option that is hypothesised to act as an IRT acting preferentially on the adaptive immune system.

Methods: Retrospective review of 20 patients (38 eyes).
Results: The most frequent ocular finding was multifocal elongated retinal perivenous "sheathing" with focal vascular leakage on fundus fluorescein angiography in 29 eyes followed by vitreous snowballs and debris in 26 eyes, anterior chamber inflammation in 15 eyes, mutton-fat keratic precipitates in 14 eyes, posterior synechiae in 13 eyes, cystoid macular edema in 9 eyes, iris nodules in 4 eyes, and optic neuritis in 3 eyes.
Aim: Studies on multiple sclerosis in Saudi Arabia remain scant, particularly studies on the psychological aspects. This study measures severities of depression, anxiety and stress, and compares them to the used disease-modifying treatment.
Materials & Methods: Cross-sectional study using a phone questionnaire targeting 452 Saudi patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis following in King Khalid University Hospital, King Fahad Medical City or Security Forces Hospital.
The burden of multiple sclerosis (MS) in women of childbearing potential is increasing, with peak incidence around the age of 30 years, increasing incidence and prevalence, and growing female : male ratio. Guidelines recommend early use of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), which are contraindicated or recommended with considerable caution, during pregnancy/breastfeeding. Many physicians are reluctant to prescribe them for a woman who is/is planning to be pregnant.

Current evidence on the effects of DMT on disability in MS is supported by the use of the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), which is dominated by ambulation, and usually used as a secondary outcome measure. Less is known about the long-term effects of DMTs on other aspects of functional status, particularly cognition, which is a key determinant of ability to work.

Methods: Forward and backward translations of FSS were undertaken to develop an Arabic version. The validity and reliability of the FSS-Ar was then tested on 28 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), 24 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), and 31 healthy subjects.
Objective: To compare the neuro-radiologic findings in Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients with and without antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) in different neuro-psychiatric manifestations.
Methods: This cross-sectional comparative study was carried out at King Khalid University Hospital, a tertiary care teaching hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from June 2012 to January 2015. Ninety seven SLE patients with neuro-psychiatric manifestations were included in the study and divided into two groups.
For decades, the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) has been the principal measure of disability in clinical trials in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and in clinical practice. However, this test is dominated by effects on ambulation. Composite endpoints may provide a more sensitive measure of MS-related disability through the measurement of additional neurological functions.

While the characteristics of the disease and the response of patients to disease-modifying therapies are generally comparable between the Middle East and other areas, significant barriers to achieving optimal care for MS exist in these developing nations. A group of physicians involved in the management of MS in ten Middle Eastern countries met to consider the future of MS care in the region, using a structured process to reach a consensus.

There is a substantial burden of MS in the region: the prevalence of the disease appears to have increased markedly in recent decades, with a faster rate of increase in female vs. male patients.

Methods: The clinical data and radiological findings on CT, MRI and cerebral angiography of 16 patients with NBD attending King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from January 1990 to February 2003 were reviewed.
Results: Out of 16 patients with NBD, 11 patients (68.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) has devastating physical, psychological, and economic consequences. The disease commences in most patients with a relapsing-remitting course, and it is likely that treatment is most effective during this phase before permanent axon damage has occurred. Despite the absence of a cure for MS, the 4 available drug therapies (Interferon (IFN) beta-1a, IFN beta-1b, glatiramer acetate, and mitoxantrone) play a role in the management of MS based on their demonstrated efficacy.

This is the first report of opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome in the Arabian Peninsula. Symptoms appeared a few days after a viral-like illness in all patients.
