Introduction: Extrauterine recurrent metastasis of Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LG-ESS) to major blood vessels is largely rare with few reported cases.

Case: Herein, we present a case of a 51-year-old female with recurrent LG-ESS that has metastasized after 12 years to the inferior vena cava (IVC) and extended into the right atrium and common iliac veins. Computed tomography showed an intracardiac larger thrombus within the right atrium extending into the inferior vena cava and common iliac veins.

is a highly multidrug-resistant pathogen resistant to almost all classes of antibiotics; new therapeutic strategies against this infectious agent are urgently needed. Shikimate kinase is an enzyme belonging to the shikimate pathway and has become a potential target for drug development. This work describes the search for Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs and natural compounds, including gallic acid, that could be repurposed as selective shikimate kinase inhibitors by integrated computational and experimental approaches.

Leishmaniasis continues to be a critical international health issue due to the scarcity of efficient treatment and the development of drug tolerance. New developments in the research of extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, have revealed novel disease management approaches. Exosomes are small vesicles that transport lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins in cell signalling.

Aim: Benzimidazole-triazole conjugates are very active hotspot for design and synthesis of promising anticancer agents. The target analogs showed potent and selective cytotoxicity over different cancer cell lines for breast and lung ones.

Materials & Methods: A new series of bis-1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles moieties conjugated with a 2-mercapto-benzimidazole 4a-h and 7a-g was synthesized via the click cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on primary lymphoid neoplasms in the urinary tract and male genital organs, which are rare and make up less than 5% of extranodal lymphomas.
  • Researchers analyzed cases diagnosed from 2005 to 2020, examining pathology slides from 11 patients, predominantly middle-aged, finding a female predominance in urinary bladder and ureter lymphomas.
  • The findings confirm that diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype, but emphasize the importance of thorough classification and diagnosis using techniques like immunohistochemistry to accurately identify various lymphoma types.

Growing evidence indicates a potential link between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and selenium (Se) levels. This study aims to assess Se concentrations in Saudi women with and without PCOS and to explore the relationships between Se levels, insulin resistance (IR), adiponectin, and lipid markers. We randomly recruited 197 women aged 18 to 40, both with and without PCOS, for this age-matched case-control study.

Objectives: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) poses high mortality and morbidity rates with limited evidence-based therapeutic approaches. We aimed to evaluate the current evidence for the role of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in the management of ICH.

Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed recommended guidelines and protocols.

Article Synopsis
  • Benign cardiac neoplasms, like cardiac leiomyomas, are rare tumors, often misdiagnosed as other conditions, with only nine cases of primary intra-cardiac leiomyomas documented in literature.
  • A case study of a 60-year-old woman showed a large benign leiomyoma in the left ventricle, confirmed by histopathology, with no other cardiac issues found, and she remained healthy four years post-surgery.
  • These tumors can pose serious health risks, including the potential for embolization and strokes, and are hard to diagnose due to the absence of symptoms; echocardiography and imaging techniques are recommended for detection.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a significant global health issue that is characterized by airflow constriction and breathing difficulties. Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is a recommended treatment for acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD), offering benefits over invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and impact of NIV in managing AECOPD.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the intra- and inter-grader reliability of four evaluators using three different digital intraoral scanners and visual methods for typodontic Class II composite preparations.

Materials And Methods: Ninety-five typodont teeth of Class II composite preparations were evaluated using traditional visual grading methods (VGM) and digital grading methods (DGM) using the same rubric. Three intraoral scanners were used to scan the Class II cavity preparation for the composite: i700 (Medit, Korea), Trios 4 (3Shape, Denmark), and Shinning 3D (Shinning 3D, China).

Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the current evidence on the efficacy of tympanostomy and adenoidectomy in children with otitis media with effusion in comparison with tympanostomy alone following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement.

Materials And Methods: We completed a comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Cochrane Library databases for relevant studies published in the literature with no date restrictions. We collected the results of the databases search and removed duplicated studies by Rayyan QCRI and EndNote Software X8.

Background: Determining the influencing factors of choice of medical specialty is key to a balanced distribution of physicians across specialties. Dermatology, the specialty concerned with treating skin disorders, is known for being among the most wanted; however, studies identifying the factors that attract students to this specialty are lacking. Our study aimed to investigate the influencing factors of the choice of dermatology as a career in clinical-year medical students.

Lymphadenopathy is a common presentation of both reactive and malignant diseases, and lymph node fine-needle aspiration cytology (LN-FNAC) is an effective and inexpensive screening method. It can prevent unnecessary invasive surgery and excisional biopsy, especially in benign cases. Unfortunately, the lack of universally accepted terminology for reporting results has hindered its widespread support.

Background: Exercise in patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) found to improve symptom management and regain function. Whether exercise lowers neurofilament light chain (NfL), neuroaxonal injury biomarker, in MS remains unknown with conflicting findings. In this study, we aimed to assess the interaction between exercise and NfL levels in pwMS.

Objectives: Being a checkpoint, the expression level of V-set immunoregulatory receptor (VSIR) serves as an indicator of the extent of immunosuppression. Our objective was to undertake a pan-cancer analysis to examine the expression, genetic alterations, prognosis, and immunologic features associated with VSIR.

Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), GEPIA2, UALCAN, OncoDB, Human Protein Atlas (HPA), STRING, DAVID, cell culture, clinical sample collection, and reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were used.

Background The processes of wound healing and scar formation are complex phenomena that are determined by an intricate interplay of molecules and cells. A deviation from the anticipated trajectory of scarring can lead to the formation of hypertrophic scars and keloids. A wide range of therapeutic methodologies have been employed in the treatment of scars.

Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare cancerous tumor that originates from fully developed histiocytes. It is most often identified by the presence of certain proteins such as the cluster of differentiation (CD) 68, CD163, or lysozyme. HS has been recorded in different sites outside of the lymph nodes such as the gastrointestinal tract, nasal cavities, skin, and bone marrow.
