Efficacy of Visual Oral Health Reinforcement in Reducing Plaque Accumulation and Gingival Bleeding: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial.

Aim: To compare oral hygiene (OH) differences during verbal or video OH instructions with or without images displaying poor oral health consequences.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-one healthy females (18-30 years) were randomly and equally divided into three intervention OH instruction groups: (1) verbal, (2) video-based, (3) video-based with image displaying the consequences of poor OH. Gingival bleeding on probing (BOP), gingival bleeding index (BI), and plaque score (PS) were assessed at baseline and after 4 weeks.

Efficacy and Safety of Thromboprophylaxis Post-Orthopedic Surgery.

Given the high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) post-orthopedic surgery and the vital role of thromboprophylaxis in preventing VTEs, this meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of thromboprophylaxis post major orthopedic surgery and the relevant safety measures. In this review, we conducted a computer-aided search of Google Scholar, PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, Medline, and EMBASE databases. We included all published randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that utilized enoxaparin, fondaparinux, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban, and aspirin for VTE prophylaxis in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA), hip fracture surgery, and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) based on primary and secondary outcomes.

Perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes toward complementary and alternative medicine among Saudi patients with vitiligo.

Introduction: The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in dermatology has been increasing in recent years. Patterns of CAM use by vitiligo patients have not previously been assessed in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, it is worth exploring the perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes of Saudi vitiligo patients toward CAM.
