Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a C-type lectin that was originally discovered as a lung surfactant associated phospholipid recognising protein. It was originally shown to be of great importance in surfactant turnover and homeostasis in conjunction with another hydrophilic surfactant protein i.e.

Serial blood samples were collected over a single-dosing interval during ECMO. Total plasma concentrations were measured by a validated chromatographic assay.

This waste is high in mineral content, particularly metal oxides, and difficult to treat, manage, and recycle, resulting in malignant environmental effects. A simple, scalable, and precisely controlled hydrochloric acid treatment transforms the red mud into a useful product by selectively removing electrochemically inactive phases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) are a potential new technology in energy storage due to their high energy density, affordability, and environmental friendliness. The development of AZIBs is still hampered by unchecked zinc dendrite formation during cycling, which results in an unstable interface, a short cycling life, and a considerable capacity decline with security issues. Herein, we demonstrate a novel nanofiber membrane based on polyetherimide-polyacrylonitrile (PEI/PAN) polymer via electrospinning method with entangled nanofibers for AZIBs applications.

Patient outcomes rely on achieving target antimicrobial concentrations. In critically ill adults on extracorporeal support, suboptimal antimicrobial concentrations have been shown to be common.

The root endophytic fungus has proven effective in providing salt stress tolerance to host plants. However, the underlying molecular mechanism facilitating the date palm's response to inoculation, and its involvement in the salt stress tolerance, remains unknown.

Objectives: The purpose of this retrospective cross-sectional study was to evaluate the number, types, and frequency of MOT and to investigate the relative rate of malignant transformation in recurrent odontogenic tumors (OT).
Methodology: The records of patients diagnosed with OT in the hospital of the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, were reviewed over 10 years (2013-2022).

This prospective hospital-based study conducted in Tikrit City aimed to investigate the role of Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL ) and level of hemoglobin A1c and lipid profile concentrations in Metabolic syndrome (MetS) with hypertension and Diabetes mellitus (DM). Objective - estimate of serum Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin levels in Metabolic syndrome patients and the Control Group. The study included 60 patients with metabolic syndrome along with 30 healthy individuals as controls who were 18-50 years old; the samples were collected at a specific time (10 P.

Supercapacitors, recognized for their high-power density and extended cycle life, play a crucial role as sustainable solutions in addressing energy storage challenges. A fundamental aspect of supercapacitor functionality involves the electrode material, which works in concert with other key components such as the current collector, separator, and electrolyte.

Objective: To determine whether prolonged β-lactam antibiotic infusions are associated with a reduced risk of death in critically ill adults with sepsis or septic shock compared with intermittent infusions.
Data Sources: The primary search was conducted with MEDLINE (via PubMed), CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and ClinicalTrials.
Drug treatments for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) dramatically improve patient outcomes, and although extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has significant use in these patients, it is unknown whether ECMO affects drug dosing. We used an ex vivo adult ECMO model to measure ECMO circuit effects on concentrations of specific COVID-19 drug treatments. Three identical ECMO circuits used in adult patients were set up.

This case report highlights the case of a woman who presented with a painless neck lump in the posterior triangle of the neck. Various pathological and imaging studies were suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma, which arises from the left prevertebral space.

The role of Vitamin D is primarily to maintain calcium and phosphate levels in the bloodstream. Significantly, steroid hormone receptors are the binding sites for both vitamin D and thyroid hormone. However, the vitamin D and thyroid function relationship is still not fully understood.

Drawing upon the Dual Systems Model, this study tested the hypothesis that the reflective system of self-regulation would mediate the relation between the reflexive system of impulsivity and narcissism, and smartphone addiction in a sample of 298 undergraduate students. Participants completed a self-administrated web-based questionnaire containing measures of impulsivity (the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale), narcissism (the Narcissistic Personality Inventory), self-regulation (the Self-Regulation Scale), and smartphone addiction (the Smartphone Addiction Inventory).

Here, straightforward chemical synthesis pathways are followed to prepare cobalt tetraoxide nanoparticles (CoONPs) in an alkaline OER process using poly[(2-methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (CoONPs@PMTC) as support to prevent aggregation. In material characterization, the X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirms the crystallinity of the synthesized CoONPs@PMTC, and Raman spectroscopy indicates that the CoONPs contain cubic close-packed oxides.
