Background: Dyspnea is frequently a debilitating symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Cannabinoid receptor agonists have the potential to alter dyspnea in these patients.
Objective: Our objective was to determine if dronabinol, a pure cannabinoid, improves dyspnea and exercise tolerance in COPD.
Purpose: To determine if a difference in hemodynamic stability would be identified in patients with abrupt withdrawal of steroids compared to patients who underwent a taper.
Material And Methods: This retrospective cohort study identified patients who received vasopressors followed by IV hydrocortisone for treatment of septic shock from January 1, 2013 until January 1, 2015.The primary endpoint evaluated the percent of patients requiring vasopressor re-initiation during taper and 72 h following taper, or 72 h directly following abrupt withdrawal.
Background: Botulism is a paralytic disease caused by the neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. The majority of cases are due to ingestion or injection drug use. Wound botulism from traumatic injury is exceedingly rare, with only one to two cases reported each year in the United States.
