Acute kidney injury following coronary artery bypass grafting and control angiography: a comprehensive analysis of 221 patients.

Postoperative coronary angiography offers the basis for prompt management of ischemic complications after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Little is known about the effects of postoperative angiography on renal function. The current study aims to assess the incidence and risk factors for acute kidney injury (AKI) following postoperative coronary angiography.

Survival results of postoperative coronary angiogram for treatment of perioperative myocardial ischaemia following coronary artery bypass grafting: a single-centre experience.

Objectives: Although perioperative myocardial ischaemia (PMI) is a well-known complication following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), standard strategies for its diagnosis and treatment are so far not defined. In this study, we sought to evaluate the impact on survival of postoperative coronary angiogram for management of patients with PMI after CABG.

Methods: Overall, 4028 patients underwent isolated CABG in a single-centre institution between January 2006 and September 2013.

Right (systemic) ventricular failure is well described after a Mustard procedure for transposition of the great arteries. Sixty-one percent of patients have been reported to show moderate-to-severe dysfunction of the systemic ventricle, 25 years after repair of transposition of the great arteries by a Mustard procedure. In such cases, heart transplant often seems to be the only option.

Treatment of chronic ascites due to right-sided heart failure by transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt stent-implantation after orthotopic heart transplant.

Long-term outcome after orthotopic heart transplant is often critical in patients with long-persisting right-sided heart failure and consecutive ascites. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunt is an effective treatment for chronic ascites. However, a case of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunt implantation after orthotopic heart transplant and left ventricular assist device bridging has not been previously reported.
