The reuse of electro-coagulated sludge as an adsorbent for Cr(VI) ion reduction was investigated in this study. Electro-coagulated sludge was obtained during the removal of citric acid wastewater by the electrocoagulation process. The following parameters were optimized for Cr(VI) reduction: pH (5-7), initial Cr(VI) concentration (10-50 mg/L), contact time (10-45 min), and adsorbent dosage (0.

Recent improvements in renewable energy sources (RESs) and their extensive use in the power industry have created significant issues for their operation, security, and management. Due to the ongoing reduction of power system inertia, maintaining operational frequency at its nominal value and minimizing tie-line power variations constitute essential variables for these improvements. A novel improved frequency stabilization approach based on modified fractional order tilt controller is presented for interconnected diverse power systems with integration of sea wave energy, photovoltaic, wind, energy storage system and biodiesel generator.

Maintaining a power balance between generation and demand is generally acknowledged as being essential to maintaining a system frequency within reasonable bounds. This is especially important for linked renewable-based hybrid power systems (HPS), where disruptions are more likely to occur. This paper suggests a prominent modified "Fractional order-proportional-integral with double derivative (FOPIDD2) controller" as an innovative HPS controller in order to navigate these obstacles.

Objectives: Randomized controlled trials are the gold standard for evidence generation in medicine but are limited by their real-world generalizability, resource needs, shorter follow-up durations and inability to be conducted for all clinical questions. Decision analysis (DA) models may simulate trials and observational studies by using existing data and evidence- and expert-informed assumptions and extend analyses over longer time horizons, different study populations and specific scenarios, helping to translate population outcomes to patient-specific clinical and economic outcomes. Here, we present a scoping review and methodological primer on DA for cardiac surgery research.

In this paper, we propose two different control strategies for the position control of the ball of the ball and beam system (BBS). The first control strategy uses the proportional integral derivative-second derivative with a proportional integrator PIDD2-PI. The second control strategy uses the tilt integral derivative with filter (TID-F).

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cardiovascular care spans primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and care, whereby tertiary care is particularly prone to disparities in care. Challenges in access to care especially affect low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), however, multiple barriers also exist and persist across high-income countries.

Introduction and objectives Liver transplantation and its indications represent an increased burden on patients' health. This can be represented in a variety of ways, such as in emergency visits, unscheduled clinic visits, and unanticipated admissions. This study aims to analyze emergency department (ED) visits, the most common presenting complaints, and the outcomes of those visits.

Introduction:  Muscle mass may be a better predictor of mortality than BMI in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Serum creatinine depends on muscle mass and renal function; low values may predict higher mortality.

Objective:  To determine whether there is an association between low serum creatinine and mortality in severe COPD.

Backgrounds/aims: Pancreatic leak and fistula formation following pancreatic resection is a dreaded complication associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The perioperative use of inotropes has been implicated in anastomotic dehiscence in other types of gastrointestinal surgery but their impact in pancreatic surgery remains unclear and a potentially modifiable risk factor for pancreatic leak. This study aims to assess the impact of perioperative inotrope infusion on the incidence of pancreatic leak following pancreaticoduodenectomy.
