Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder with a global impact, yet its pathogenesis remains poorly understood. While age, metabolic abnormalities, and accumulation of neurotoxic substances are potential risk factors for AD, their effects are confounded by other factors. To address this challenge, we first utilized multi-omics data from 87 well phenotyped AD patients and generated plasma proteomics and metabolomics data, as well as gut and saliva metagenomics data to investigate the molecular-level alterations accounting the host-microbiome interactions.

This randomized controlled trial was conducted to determine the effect of listening to Surah Maryam during the first stage of labor on postpartum depression, traumatic childbirth perception, and post-traumatic stress. Women in the Surah Maryam group (SMG) listened to Surah Maryam during the first stage of labor. Following the intervention, both groups were assessed using scales measuring the perception of traumatic childbirth, postpartum depression, and post-traumatic stress.

This study aimed to compare postural assessment and postural awareness using the artificial intelligence posture evaluation and correction system (APECS) in individuals receiving posture training. Participants' physical characteristics were recorded. The participants' posture was evaluated with APECS and the New York posture rating chart test (NYPR), and their body and postural awareness was evaluated with the body awareness questionnaire (BAQ), postural awareness form (PAF) and postural habits and awareness scale (PHAS).

A Rare Cause of Hypotension in Routine Hemodialysis: Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency.

Hypotension is a common complication during hemodialysis that develops due to high ultrafiltration rate and sometimes requires intravenous fluid replacement. Intradialytic hypotension may reduce the effectiveness of dialysis and contributes to hemodialysis-related morbidity and mortality. Adrenal insufficiency is one of the causes of hypotension in the community.

Objectives: A vestibulo-ocular reflex called the ocular counter-roll can be used to assess how well the otolith organs are functioning. The video ocular counter-roll (vOCR) test is a recent addition to the videonystagmography test battery that allows for video recording and quantitative ocular counter-roll analysis. The purpose of this study is to investigate potential discrepancies in vOCR measurements obtained from a 30° lateral head tilt in the roll plane versus measurements obtained from a 30° tilt of the head and body.

Methods: The study included 119 patients, with 47 females and 72 males. Patients were categorized into four groups based on the AREDS grading system: no AMD (group 1), mild AMD (group 2), moderate AMD (group 3), and advanced AMD (group 4).

Early versus delayed lower extremity amputations caused by firearm injury: A minimum 2-year follow-up.

Background: High-energy casualties such as firearm injuries may result in extensive loss of soft tissue and bone in the lower extremities. Although the primary aim in these types of injuries is the preservation of the extremity, repeated surgical procedures for extremity salvage and subsequent restoration of function could have detrimental effects on the patient both physically and psychologically. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the physical and psychological outcomes of patients who underwent lower extremity amputation in the early period after a firearm injury compared with the results of patients who underwent amputation in the late period.

Background: The HALP score, measured based on hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet levels, is regarded as a novel scoring system that indicates the status of systemic inflammation and nutritional health. Our study aimed to evaluate the relationship between HALP score and prognosis in non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients.

Methods: Between 1 January 2020 and 1 January 2022, 568 consecutive patients diagnosed with NSTEMI from a single center were included in the study retrospectively.

Objective: This study examines the effect of smoking on global and regional brain entropy in patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), aiming to elucidate the relationship between smoking habits and brain network complexity in depression.

Methods: The study enrolled 24 MDD patients, divided into smokers and non-smokers, from Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University and Istanbul Medipol University. Resting-state fMRI data were acquired and processed.

Purpose: This study aims to introduce a new suture method and report surgical outcomes of patients who underwent scleral-fixated intraocular lens (SF-IOL) implantation combined with either pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) or anterior vitrectomy (AV).

Methods: Twenty-three eyes performed SF-IOL implantation combined with PPV (Group 1), and 34 eyes performed SF-IOL implantation combined with AV (Group 2) were included in the study prospectively. The SF-IOL, either polymethyl methacrylate or foldable IOL, was sutured into the sclera using PC-9 sutures in an irregular, knotless, and zigzag-shaped manner.

A comprehensive study of experimental and theoretical characterization and toxicity analysis of new molecules.

In this study, for the first time in the literature, a 2-(3-methoxyphenylamino)-2-oxoethyl acrylate (3MPAEA) molecule was synthesized in two steps, and a 2-chloro-N-(3-methoxyphenyl)acetamide (m-acetamide) was obtained in the first step. Experimental results were obtained using FTIR, H, and C NMR spectroscopy methods for m-acetamide and 3MPAEA compounds created in the laboratory environment and compared with theoretical results. Band gap (BG) energy, chemical hardness, electronegativity, chemical potential, and electrophilicity index were calculated.
