Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on type II toxin-antitoxin systems (mazEF3, vapBC3, and relJK) and their impact on antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, specifically looking at mutations in these genes among sensitive and resistant isolates.
  • - Researchers analyzed 153 M. tuberculosis samples, finding that lineage 2 had the highest rifampin resistance and that rpoB531 mutations were common in resistant strains.
  • - A significant mutation in the mazF3 gene was identified in all rifampin-resistant isolates, suggesting its role in the development of drug resistance, indicating the need for further research with a larger sample size.

Background: In recent years, there has been a growing interest in phage therapy as an effective therapeutic tool against colibacillosis caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) which resulted from the increasing number of multidrug resistant (MDR) APEC strains.

Methods: In the present study, we reported the characterization of a new lytic bacteriophage (Escherichia phage AG- MK-2022. Basu) isolated from poultry slaughterhouse wastewater.

The use of click chemistry as a smart and suitable method for the development of new heterogeneous catalysts is based on metal-organic frameworks as well as the production of organic compounds. The development of the click chemistry method can provide a new strategy to achieve superior properties of MOFs. Here, the two metals Co and Fe are used to create a bimetallic-organic framework.

Toxin-Antitoxin (TA) systems are some small genetic modules in bacteria that play significant roles in resistance and tolerance development to antibiotics. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is an effective method to analyze TA systems in pathogenic Mycobacteria. However, this study aimed to use a simple and inexpensive PCR-Sequencing approach to investigate the type II TA system.

Trueperella pyogenes is an opportunistic animal pathogen mainly associated with various suppurative infections in wild and domestic animals. Limited studies have investigated the pathogenesis of diseases caused by this pathogen. The main objective of the current study was to investigate the prevalence, phenotypic properties, virulence genotypes, antimicrobial susceptibility and genetic characterization of T.

An infectious disease that is transmitted from animals to humans and vice-versa is called zoonosis. Bacterial zoonotic diseases can re-emerge after they have been eradicated or controlled and are among the world's major health problems which inflict tremendous burden on healthcare systems. The first step to encounter such illnesses can be early and precise detection of bacterial pathogens to further prevent the following losses due to their infections.

Drug resistance to streptomycin in the clinical isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) needs special consideration. It can mostly be caused by mutations in four genes with the names rpsL, rrs, gidB, and whiB7. The main objective of this study was the evaluation of the type and frequency of mutations in these mentioned genes using the PCR-sequencing method.

Trueperella pyogenes is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen causing several infectious diseases, including metritis, mastitis and abscesses in domestic animals such as dairy cattle. Several virulence proteins are released by T. pyogenes strains contributing to the pathogenic and causing disease potential of this pathogen.

The present study was conducted to determine the antimicrobial resistance pattern and biofilm-formation ability in 100 Avian-Pathogenic (APEC) isolated from colibacillosis-suspected broilers and 100 Avian Fecal (AFEC) isolates from healthy broilers in Hamedan, Iran. All isolates were screened by polymerase chain reaction for antimicrobial resistance genes, class 1 and 2 integrons, and biofilm-associated genes. Besides, we assessed the possible relationship between biofilm-formation ability antibiotic resistance patterns, genetic background, and the pathogenicity of APEC strains.

Objective: Trueperella pyogenes has been considered a major causative agent of metritis, abortion, and death in a broad range of domestic and wild animals, including cattle, swine, sheep, goats, camels, buffalo, deer, antelopes, reptiles, and birds.

Data Description: Here, we report the complete chromosome sequence of Trueperella pyogenes strain Arash114, isolated from the uterus of a water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) died due to the infection caused by this pathogen. The genome assembly comprised 2,338,282 bp, with a 59.

Iron is an essential element for all microorganisms. Siderophores are low-weight, high-affinity iron chelating molecules produced in response to iron deficiency by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria which also known as essential virulence factors of bacteria. Several studies have indicated that defective production and/or function of these molecules as well as iron acquisition systems in pathogens are associated with a reduction in pathogenicity of bacteria.

In the present study, 100 Avian-Pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) isolates from colibacillosis-suspected broilers and 100 Avian Faecal Escherichia coli (AFEC) isolates from healthy broilers in Iran were examined by PCR for confirmation of their serogroups and phylogenetic background, and their association with ten virulence-associated genes (VAG) including fimC, iutA, chuA, sitA, iss, cvaA/B, hylA, stx1, stx2, and yjaA. Serogroups O78, O1, O2 and O18 were the prominent strains including 54 % of the APEC and 23 % of the AFEC strains. At phylotyping, the majority of APEC strains belonged to phylogenetic group E (22 %) while for the AFEC strains, half of the isolates were not assigned to any group but the predominant phylogroup was E (27 %).

Trueperella pyogenes is one of the most important microorganisms causing metritis in post-partum cattle. Co-infection with other bacterial species such as Escherichia coli or Fusobacterium necrofurom increases the severity of the disease and the persistence of bacteria in utero. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of T.

The present study was conducted to determine the molecular diversity of strains isolated from human, bovine and food samples based on the polymorphism of the gene. A total of 208 isolated from human, bovine raw milk and food samples were assessed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and single locus sequence typing (SLST) methods, followed by determination of types using Ridom SpaServer. Altogether, 15 distinct RFLP patterns were recorded (I-XV).

Immunological assays are valuable diagnostic tools to detect infections due to most of bacterial microorganisms. However, the question is how much safe are the common serum samples used as sources of antibodies in these assays? Here, we experimentally followed the issue. 10-fold serial dilutions of two Gram-positive, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, and one Gram-negative bacteria, Escherichia coli, were prepared and spiked into freshly taken blood samples of human and four animal species including sheep, goat, cattle, and horse.
