  • Unlabelled infestation affects about one-seventh of the global population, primarily impacting those in lower socioeconomic conditions, particularly in underdeveloped countries, with children being more susceptible to severe complications like intestinal obstruction.* -
  • Presented cases involved two pediatric patients with small bowel obstructions due to the infestation, both requiring surgical resection and an end-to-end anastomosis after initial rehydration, followed by a de-worming treatment plan.* -
  • Ascariasis, caused by roundworms, is transmitted through contaminated food and water, and while surgical intervention is often necessary for obstructions, careful medical management can be effective when signs of more severe complications are absent.*
