Background: The major cardiovascular outcome trials on glucagon-like peptide one-receptor agonists have examined its effect on hospitalization of subjects with heart failure; however, very limited trials have been conducted on subjects with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (r- LVEF) as a primary outcome.

Objective: We have conducted a systematic review of two major (FIGHT and LIVE) placebo-controlled trials of liraglutide and its clinical effect on the ejection fraction of subjects with heart failure.

Methods: Medline data was retrieved for trials involving liraglutide from 2012 to 2020.

Preantral follicles were isolated from 14-day NMRI mouse ovaries.

Due to the anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin (CU) and low-level laser therapy (LLLT), we examined the protective effect of CU and LLLT on PC12 cells treated with 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) as a Parkinson model.

Diagnostic accuracy of two-dimensional coronary angiographic-derived fractional flow reserve-Preliminary results.

Aim: Noninvasive fractional flow reserve (NiFFR) is an emerging method for evaluating the functional significance of a coronary lesion during diagnostic coronary angiography (CAG). The method relies on the computational flow dynamics and the three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the vessel extracted from CAG. In the present study, we sought to evaluate the diagnostic performance and applicability of 2D-based NiFFR.

Osteoporosis is reported to be common among Saudi women. Several minerals appear to be important determinants of insulin-like growth factor (IGF), the bioactivity of which regulates bone and mineral metabolism. Here we proposed that mineral status may alter the IGF system among individuals with osteoporosis.

Guillain-Barre syndrome in patients with coronavirus disease-2019: Report of six cases and review of literature.

Few studies have reported the association of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) and coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection. In this study, we reported GBS in six patients infected with COVID-19 and reviewed all existing literature about GBS in association with COVID-19. This study was performed in three referral centers of COVID-19 in Iran, and six patients with the diagnosis of GBS were enrolled.

However, no study has been reported on the current PCI practice in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in Iran. We aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and treatment patterns in Iranian ACS patients treated with PCI.

Evaluation of bladder shape using transabdominal ultrasound: Feasibility of a novel approach for the detection of involuntary detrusor contractions.

Conventional assessment of overactive bladder syndrome uses invasive pressure-measuring catheters to detect bladder contractions (urodynamics). We hypothesised that bladder shape changes detected and measured using transabdominal ultrasound scan could provide a non-invasive and clinically useful alternative investigation of bladder contractions. This feasibility study evaluated a novel transabdominal ultrasound scan bladder shape test during conventional urodynamics and physiological bladder filling.

Cordotomy for Intractable Cancer Pain: A Narrative Review.

Background: Cordotomy is an invasive procedure for the management of intractable pain not controlled by conventional therapies, such as analgesics or nerve block. This procedure involves mechanical disruption of nociceptive pathways in the anterolateral column, specifically the spinothalamic and spinoreticular pathways to relieve pain while preserving fine touch and proprioceptive tracts.

Objectives: The purpose of this review article is to refresh our knowledge of cordotomy and support its continued use in managing intractable pain due to malignant disease.

The spermatogenesis is temperature-dependent and heat stress have destructive effects on spermatogenesis and reduces sperm quality. Sixteen adult mice were allocated to two groups: hyperthermia and control groups. Scrotal hyperthermia was induced by water bath with 43°C for 30 min.

Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Management of Patients With ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction in a Tertiary Cardiovascular Center.

Background: In the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the appropriate reperfusion strategy in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is unclear.

Methods: This retrospective single-center study consecutively enrolled patients who presented with STEMI and scheduled for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) during the outbreak of COVID-19. Due to the delay in the reporting of the polymerase chain reaction test results, our postprocedural triage regarding COVID-19, followed by the isolation strategy, was based on lung computerized tomography scan results.

Sex Differences in 28-Day Mortality of Ischemic Stroke in Iran and Its Associated Factors: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Introduction: The mortality and morbidity rates of stroke in men and women have been reported differently and its effective factors have been discussed. The purpose of this study was to investigate sex differences in 28-day mortality of ischemic stroke and its associated factors.

Materials And Methods: This is a prospective cohort study conducted from June 2018 to September 2019 in patients with ischemic stroke referred to Firoozgar, Shariati and Sina hospitals in Tehran.

A Qualitative Examination of How Somali Young Adults Think About and Understand Violence in Their Communities.

Violence prevention efforts must take into consideration the potentially stigmatizing labels associated with violence, and how youth perceive different types of violence in their communities. Somali communities and individuals in North America have at times been labeled as at-risk for violence, with two notable examples being gang violence and ideologically motivated violence, or violent radicalization. Little is known, however, about how the youth themselves think about and understand these types of violence in their communities.

A systematic comparison between infant formula compositions using the Bray-Curtis Similarity Index.

Background: Making an informed choice between the available infant formulas is challenging, as there is no unbiased tool allowing a systematic comparison between the very long lists of infant formula compositions.

Aim: The aim is to present the Bray-Curtis Similarity Index (BCSI) as a tool for systematic comparison between standard stage-1 infant formula (SS-1-IF) compositions.

Methods: We obtained the nutrient levels from the packaging labels of 23 SS-1-IFs available in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, in April 2018.
