In this study, we synthesized new series of 5-oxo-2-phenyl-4-(arylsulfamoyl)sulphenyl) hydrazono)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate hybrids 4a-f with the goal of overcoming sulfonamide resistance and identifying novel therapeutic candidates by chemical changes. The chemical structures of the synthesized hybrids were established over the spectroscopic tools. The frontier molecular orbitals configuration and energetic possessions of the synthesized compounds were discovered utilizing DFT/B3LYP/6-311++ G** procedure.

The ligand, N'-(furan-2-ylmethylene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (HL), was synthesized characterized through various spectral studies which cleared out that the free ligand existed in keto form. The ligand upon reaction with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) acetates yielded complexes with stoichiometric ratio 1:2 (M:L) which has been validated through the elemental and mass spectral measurements. The IR and NMR spectral studies of the isolated complexes disclosed that the ligand chelated to metal ion in mononegative bidentate fashion via the azomethine nitrogen and deprotonated enolized carbonyl oxygen.

Three thienylpicolinamidine derivatives 4a-c were prepared from their corresponding picolinonitriles 3a-c on treatment with lithium trimethylsilylamide, LiN(TMS), followed by a de-protection step using ethanol/HCl (gas). DFT calculations were used to optimize the geometric structure of the newly synthesized picolinamidines. The comparison of DFT calculated spectral data with the experimental data (H-NMR and C-NMR) showed a good agreement.

In Narragansett Bay, light attenuation by total suspended sediments (TSS), colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM), and phytoplankton chlorophyll-a (chl-a) pigment is 129%, 97%, and 70%, respectively, of that by pure seawater. Spatial distribution of light attenuation indicates higher values in the upper Bay, where rivers with sediment and nutrient-rich waters enter and elevate TSS, CDOM, and chl-a concentrations. The temporal trends of light attenuation during the summer months (July-August) differed at various locations in the Bay, having the highest values in July.

Complexes of VO(2+), Cr(3+), Co(2+), Ni(2+), Cu(2+), Zn(2+), Cd(2+) and Hg(2+) ions with N(-)(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2-mercaptoacetohydrazide (H2L) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal (TGA, DTGA), spectral (IR, NMR, UV-Visible, MS) and magnetic measurements. The IR spectra show that H2L behaves in a mononegative and/or binegative bidentate manner. The sulfate bridged the two complex molecules in [Cu(HL)(H2O)2(½SO4)]⋅3H2O.

The uterine tissue of three healthy nonpregnant goats was evaluated experimentally as a graft for closure of a bladder defect. Goats were subjected to ovariectomy, and then one detubularized uterine horn was used as a graft to close a large defect in the ventral aspect of the bladder. Follow up included monthly radiographic and ultrasonographic examinations and evaluations of kidney function and electrolytes changes for six months.

Three new laurene-type sesquiterpenes, 12-hydroxy isolaurene (1), 8,11-dihydro-12-hydroxy isolaurene (2) and isolauraldehyde (3) were isolated from the organic extract of the red alga Laurencia obtusa. The chemical structures of isolates were determined by interpretation of their spectral data 1D and 2D NMR, UV, IR and MS. The newly isolated compounds were tested for their antimicrobial and antitumor activities.

The reaction between 2-hydrazinopyridine and ethylisothiocyanate produced 4-ethyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl) thiosemicarbazide (HEPTS). Its reaction with copper fluoride, chloride, bromide, acetate, nitrate, perchlorate, sulfate, carbonate, hydroxide and copper metal produced 15 Cu(II) complexes. The copper metal is easily oxidized in aqueous-ethanol solution of HEPTS giving [Cu2(EPTS)(H2O)3(OH)3]EtOH.

Residence times are defined classically by the physical and chemical aspects of water bodies rather than by their ecological implications. Therefore, a more clear and direct connection between the residence times and ecological effects is necessary to relate these timescales quantitatively to ecology. The concept of local effect time (LET) is proposed in this paper as a timescale with spatial resolution that relates to ecological components and their spatial distribution within an embayment.
