Aim: To evaluate the effect of vitamin E on ovulation and pregnancy in women with clomiphene citrate (CC)-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Methods: A prospective, randomized, controlled, open label study was conducted on women with CC-resistant PCOS. Patients were randomized, to either control group (n = 30), who received metformin 500 mg thrice daily, in addition to 150 mg/day CC for 5 days starting from day 3 of menstruation for three menstruation cycles, or vitamin E group (n = 30) who received vitamin E 1500 IU/day for the whole study period in addition to metformin and CC with the same previous regimen.
