The effectiveness of a multimodal approach in the treatment of patients with upper crossed syndrome: A randomized controlled trial.

Objectives: Considering the multitude of contributing factors to upper crossed syndrome (UCS), a multimodal treatment may be an effective therapeutic option. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the multimodal approach, including muscle energy technique (MET), cervical and scapulothoracic stabilization exercises, and postural correction training with ergonomic advice, in the treatment of patients with UCS.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial randomly assigned 40 patients with UCS aged 30-55 years to either group A (intervention group, n = 20) who received the multimodal approach or group B (control group, n = 20) who received MET only.

Combined open reduction and Dega transiliac osteotomy for developmental dysplasia of the hip in walking children.

The iliac osteotomy described by Dega in Poland, in 1969, is an acetabuloplasty that changes the acetabular configuration and its inclination. The aim of this work is to analyze a group of patients with DDH treated by combined open reduction and Dega transiliac osteotomy ,to evaluate the results and determine the advantages and disadvantages, as well as, assess the factors affecting the final outcome of such procedure. A prospective study was conducted during the period, from November 2010 to October 2014, on 39 hips, in 29 children, with neglected DDH after walking age, either diagnosed late or after failure to respond to previous non operative treatment.

Intra-Articular Morphine versus Dexmedetomedine for Knee Arthroscopy under Local Anesthesia.

Background: Knee arthroscopy has both diagnostic and therapeutic applications which can be performed under general, regional, or local anesthesia. Morphine is used as an additive to local anesthetics. Dexmedetomedine, the highly selective alpha-2 (α2)-adrenoceptor agonist with the sedative and analgesic effect can be used also to augment local anesthetic effect.

Treatment of distal femoral fractures in elderly diabetic patients using minimally invasive percutaneous plating osteosynthesis (MIPPO).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) of distal femoral fractures in elderly diabetic patients with osteoporotic bone. Thirteen supracondylar or intercondylar femoral fractures were treated by MIPPO with a locked plate without bone grafting. All fractures healed, with only one delayed union in a patient who had deep infection.

Acromioclavicular joint reconstruction using anchor sutures: surgical technique and preliminary results.

A number of surgical procedures have been described for reconstruction of the disrupted acromioclavicular (AC) joint. Among these is the use of anchor sutures tied over a small button plate. The present study aims to evaluate the preliminary results with this technique in 15 patients with a mean age of 31 years (range: 19-48 years).

Double calcaneal osteotomy and percutaneous tenoplasty for adequate arch restoration in adult flexible flat foot.

Treatment of adult acquired flexible flat foot deformity can be problematic. Triple arthrodesis for structural correction has been the standard of care, thus sacrificing hind foot motion. The objective of this study was to assess the value of double calcaneal osteotomies in improving structural alignment while maintaining hind foot motion, which may further protect the function of adjacent motion segments.
