High-throughput phenotyping is an emerging approach in plant science, but thus far only a few applications have been made in horticultural crop breeding. Remote sensing of leaf or canopy spectral reflectance can help breeders rapidly measure traits, increase selection accuracy, and thereby improve response to selection. In the present study, we evaluated the integration of spectral analysis of canopy reflectance and genomic information for the prediction of strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) powdery mildew disease.

Here, we present a case of pituitary gland metastasis from underlying lung cancer in a patient presenting with a predominance of pituitary symptoms over respiratory symptoms.

Microsurgical skills training course and impact on trainee confidence and workload.

Introduction: Our objective was to measure the impact of a basic microsurgery training course on trainees' confidence and workload in performing microsurgery.

Methods: A prospective study of participants in an accredited 5-day microsurgery course over a 3-month period. The confidence and workload of the participants were assessed after the first and final day.

Salbutamol-Induced QT Interval Prolongation in a Two-Year-Old Patient.

Salbutamol-induced QT interval prolongation is a relatively rare adverse effect of beta2-agonists. We report a case of a two-year-old female patient with no known past medical history, brought by her parents to the ED 30 minutes after ingesting a total dose of 97 mg of salbutamol solution. ECG was done for the patient when she arrived and showed sinus tachycardia with prolonged QTc (509 ms) and normal QRS complex.

An outbreak of novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) was reported in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, which was later declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020. It is a life-threatening contagious infection with infected patients usually presenting with respiratory tract symptoms, although the disease can affect other multiple organs. Coronavirus disease-2019 infection is a hypercoagulable state associated with serious thrombotic complications, particularly in critically ill patients.

Combined nasal goniotomy - temporal trabeculotomy (NGTT) for circumferential angle surgery in primary congenital glaucoma.

Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of combining nasal goniotomy with temporal trabeculotomy in the management of primary congenital glaucoma.

Design: Case series.

Methods: Fifteen eyes of eleven children (3-12 months old at presentation) were enrolled in this study after the establishment of PCG diagnosis based on the criteria placed by the World Glaucoma Association.

Novel Therapeutics for Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema: A Pathophysiologic Perspective.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) and diabetic macular edema (DME) are retinal complications of diabetes that can lead to loss of vision and impaired quality of life. The current gold standard therapies for treatment of DR and DME focus on advanced disease, are invasive, expensive, and can trigger adverse side-effects, necessitating the development of more effective, affordable, and accessible therapies that can target early stage disease. The pathogenesis and pathophysiology of DR is complex and multifactorial, involving the interplay between the effects of hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, hypoxia, and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the promotion of neurovascular dysfunction and immune cell polarization to a proinflammatory state.

Naturally occurring plant-based anticancerous candidates as prospective ABCG2 inhibitors: an in silico drug discovery study.

ATP-binding cassette transporter G2 (ABCG2) is an efflux transporter related to the clinical multidrug resistance (MDR) phenomenon. Identifying ABCG2 inhibitors could help discover extraordinary curative strategies for carcinoma remediation. Treatment Outcomes of Tocilizumab in Critically-Ill COVID-19 Patients, Single-Centre Retrospective Study.

Robot System Assistant (RoSA): Towards Intuitive Multi-Modal and Multi-Device Human-Robot Interaction.

This paper presents an implementation of RoSA, a Robot System Assistant, for safe and intuitive human-machine interaction. The interaction modalities were chosen and previously reviewed using a Wizard of Oz study emphasizing a strong propensity for speech and pointing gestures. Based on these findings, we design and implement a new multi-modal system for contactless human-machine interaction based on speech, facial, and gesture recognition.

Bilateral Elbow Dislocation After Trauma in a Healthy Adult Female.

Bilateral elbow dislocation is a rare injury. We report a rare case of a simultaneous bilateral traumatic elbow dislocation in a 28-year-old previously healthy Kenyan female. Initial clinical assessment and plain radiographs showed the possibility of an associated fracture at the right capitulum.

Background: Surgical site infection is a major source of morbidity in patients undergoing pancreatic head resection and is often from organisms in intraoperative bile duct cultures. As such, many institutions use prolonged prophylactic antibiotics and tailor based on bile duct cultures. However, standard cultures take days, leaving many patients unnecessarily on prolonged antibiotics.

Bile reflux gastropathy: Prevalence and risk factors after therapeutic biliary interventions: A retrospective cohort study.

Background: Bile reflux gastropathy is caused by the backward flow of duodenal fluid into the stomach. A retrospective cohort study was performed to declare if the therapeutic biliary interventions cause bile reflux gastropathy, and to estimate its prevalence and risk factors, and to evaluate the gastric mucosa endoscopic and histopathologic changes.

Methods: 62 patients, with epigastric pain and/or dyspeptic symptoms, were grouped into, : (34) patients that had undergone cholecystectomy and : (28) patients who had undergone at least one of the following procedures for the treatment of benign pathology: endoscopic sphincterotomy and endoscopic stenting.

Removal of micropollutants from municipal wastewater by membrane bioreactors: Conventional membrane versus dynamic membrane.

In this study, fate of micropollutants was investigated in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) having dynamic membrane (DM) and ultrafiltration (UF) membrane for the treatment of raw municipal wastewater. Removal efficiencies of different micropollutants including sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim, caffeine and acetaminophen were assessed. A commercial hollow fiber UF membrane was used in parallel with a DM that was formed on a low-cost hollow fiber support material, made of polyester.
