Background: Approximately five million individuals have traumatic injuries annually. Implementing prehospital blood-component transfusion (PHBT), encompassing packed red blood cells (p-RBCs), plasma, or platelets, facilitates early hemostatic volume replacement following trauma. The lack of uniform PHBT guidelines persists, relying on diverse parameters and physician experience.

This cross-sectional comparative study explored the impact of armed conflict on the self-esteem of nursing students in Sudan and Saudi Arabia. In total, 308 nursing students provided data.

We developed an image-based model to patient-specifically optimize the catheter placement for rhenium-186 (Re)-nanoliposomes (RNL) delivery to treat recurrent glioblastoma (rGBM).
Methods: The model consists of the 1) fluid fields generated via catheter infusion, 2) dynamic transport of RNL, and 3) transforming RNL concentration to the SPECT signal.

The glymphatic system is a brain-wide system of perivascular networks that facilitate exchange of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and interstitial fluid (ISF) to remove waste products from the brain. A greater understanding of the mechanisms for glymphatic transport may provide insight into how amyloid beta () and tau agglomerates, key biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, accumulate and drive disease progression. In this study, we develop an image-guided computational model to describe glymphatic transport and deposition throughout the brain.

We present a 27 years old woman who was at 28 weeks of pregnancy and she urinary tract infection developed to acute pyelonephritis. This condition developed to form perirenal abscess and intrauterine fetus death.

Objectives: To assess the prevalence of needle stick injuries (NSI) among nurses worldwide; according to WHO regions, the socioeconomic development index (SDI) of countries, and the developmental status of individual countries, and in the Middle East.
Introduction: Stroke is a significant health problem and is considered one of the leading causes of mortality and permanent disability worldwide. Hypertension is a primary risk factor for stroke. Thus, hypertensive patients' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) are essential in preventing stroke.

Image-guided percutaneous drainage techniques are the currently used management for liver abscesses. We conducted our study to compare the clinical safety and efficacy of percutaneous needle aspiration (PNA) to percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD).

Reducing the myths about infectious diseases is vital for controlling transmission. This study explored the level of misconceptions and associated factors of COVID-19 among internally displaced persons in Sudan.

Although vaccination is the only hope to end this pandemic, adverse effects attributable to vaccines are still being reported. Active surveillance is critical for generating near-real-time, high-quality evidence for potential safety hazards, allowing us to respond quickly to vaccination.

Current approaches for treatment planning utilizing convection-enhanced delivery are designed for small molecule drugs and not for larger particles such asRe-nanoliposomes. To enable the treatment planning forRe-nanoliposomes delivery, we have developed a computational fluid dynamics approach to predict the distribution of nanoliposomes for individual patients.

The 30-day readmission rate is a highly scrutinized metric of quality surgical care, because readmission is costly and perceived to be avoidable with planning and patient education. Head and neck surgery patients generally have multiple risk factors for readmission, as readmitted patients are generally older, with more co-morbidities, lower socio-economic status, and a history of multiple emergency department visits and readmissions. A retrospective cohort study was implemented to determine the incidence and etiology of 30-day readmission after microvascular head and neck reconstructive surgery, focusing on social risk factors.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImportance: Data regarding outcomes after major head and neck ablation and reconstruction in the growing geriatric population (specifically ≥80 years of age) are limited. Such information would be extremely valuable in preoperative discussions with elderly patients about their surgical risks and expected functional outcomes.
Objectives: To identify patient and surgical factors associated with 30-day postoperative complications, 90-day mortality, and 90-day functional decline; to explore whether an association exists between the type of reconstructive procedure and outcome; and to create a preoperative risk stratification system for these outcomes.
Unlabelled: The study aimed to compare two scores: the pediatric logistic organ dysfunction (PELOD) with its updated version (PELOD-2) in describing the severity of organ dysfunction in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and assess the performance of PELOD-2 in the Egyptian population. A prospective cohort study of 200 patients consecutively admitted to PICU between July 2015 and A 2016 was included. The median age was 6 months, and the male to female ratio was 1.

Experiments were set up in 2004 at the Kenana Sugarcane Estate, Sudan.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the Lyssavirus genus, employing P gene sequences from 128 isolates recovered globally, is presented. While confirming prior suggestions of the genetic distinctness of the Australian bat lyssaviruses, these data also revealed a clear division within the rabies virus clade (Genotype 1) between globally distributed viruses circulating predominantly in canid species (subgroup 1-1), and American strains harbored by both chiropteran and terrestrial hosts (subgroup 1-2). Nucleotide substitution patterns within the P locus suggested differential selection operating along the length of the open reading frame (ORF) between rabies viruses of these two subgroups.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA recombinant rabies virus phosphoprotein fusion product (GST-P) was used to generate a series of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) with anti-P reactivity. Competitive binding assays classified 27 of these MAbs into four groups (I to IV), and 24 of them were deemed to recognize linear epitopes, as judged by their reaction in immunoblots. The linear epitope recognized in each case was mapped by using two series of N- and C-terminally deleted recombinant phosphoproteins.
