Article Synopsis
  • Despite advancements in targeted therapies, breast cancer remains a serious health risk for women, highlighting the need for ongoing research.
  • The rise of transcriptomics through high-throughput sequencing has shed light on the important roles of non-coding RNAs, especially long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), in disease development, including cancer.
  • The review focuses on recent findings about lncRNAs in breast cancer, particularly their involvement in key pathways like PI3K, MAPK, NF-kB, and hypoxia, along with their mechanisms of resistance in cancer biology.

Article Synopsis
  • Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in women worldwide, characterized by high heterogeneity, treatment resistance, and risks of recurrence and metastasis.
  • Early detection and continuous monitoring are essential for improving survival rates, but the lack of precise biomarkers significantly affects patients' quality of life.
  • Recent studies highlight the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in understanding and managing BC, particularly in relation to specific signaling pathways and potential therapeutic strategies.

A serious consequence of diabetes mellitus, diabetic nephropathy (DN) which causes gradual damage to the kidneys. Dietary changes, blood pressure control, glucose control, and hyperlipidemia are all important components of DN management. New research, however, points to microRNAs (miRNAs) as having a pivotal role in DN pathogenesis.

Background: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common cause of hair loss in both genders that may be associated with disturbed systemic metabolism. Irisin is a hormone-like myokine that greatly influences systemic metabolism and is linked to cardiovascular diseases.

Aim: To detect irisin role in AGA and its associated metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cardiovascular risk.

Introduction: Artificial turf or synthetic grass releases hazardous substances such as heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Objective: The current study aimed to evaluate the concentration levels of hazardous substances that are emitted from artificial turf as a result of sunlight effect; and to assess the expected exposure risks to such emitted substances during various activities. The current study aimed to evaluate the concentration levels of hazardous substances that are emitted from artificial turf as a result of the effect of sunlight.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the deadliest cancers associated with poor prognosis. The lack of reliable means of early cancer detection contributes to this disease's dismal prognosis. Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are protein-free RNAs produced by genome transcription; they play critical roles in gene expression regulation, epigenetic modification, cell proliferation, differentiation, and reproduction.

In this paper, we consider a three-tiered food web model in a chemostat, including chlorophenol, phenol, and hydrogen substrates and their degraders. The model takes into account the three substrate inflowing concentrations, as well as maintenance, that is, decay terms of the species. The operating diagrams give the asymptotic behavior of the model with respect to the four operating parameters, which are the dilution rate and the three inflowing concentrations of the substrates.

Aflatoxins (AFB) are mycotoxins known to be associated with human and animal diseases. The lung is a at risk from AFBexposure either via inhalation or circulation. Green tea consumption is increasing over time due to widespread popularity as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and cytoprotective agents.

Objective: Flexible flatfoot is a common deformity in adults that has been thought to be a causative factor of a lot of lower limb injuries and back pain. Core muscles act as stabilizers for the trunk and weak core places a person at greater risk of low back pain and lower limb injuries. We aimed to compare the core muscles' endurance between individuals with and without flatfeet.

Gastric duplication cysts are uncommon congenital anomaly and its association with other malformations is rarely reported. Many theories exist for the development of these lesions. This case report describes coincidental detection of perforated gastric duplication clogged by the omentum associated with anorectal malformation and agenesis of the corpus callosum.

Near total aganglionosis represents the most extreme and rare form of Hirschsprung's disease. It can affect more than one member of family. We report three cases of near total intestinal aganglionosis in a family presenting with intestinal obstruction at birth.

Chylothorax is defined as accumulation of lymphatic fluid in the pleural space. Chylothorax in the neonatal period can be classified into three distinct categories: congenital chylothorax (CC), syndromic or malformative chylothorax (MC) and postoperative chylothorax (CO). Although rare, chylothorax is the most common cause of pleural effusions in the neonatal period.

We study a model of the chemostat with several species in competition for a single resource. We take into account the intra-specific interactions between individuals of the same population of micro-organisms and we assume that the growth rates are increasing and the dilution rates are distinct. Using the concept of steady-state characteristics, we present a geometric characterization of the existence and stability of all equilibria.

Unlabelled: Agricultural wastes such as rice straw, sugar beet, and sugarcane bagasse have become a critical environmental issue due to growing agriculture demand. This study aimed to investigate the valorization possibility of sugarcane bagasse waste for activated carbon preparation. It also aimed to fully characterize the prepared activated carbon (BET surface area) via scanning electron microscope (SEM) and in terms of surface functional groups to give a basic understanding of its structure and to study the adsorption capacity of the sugarcane bagasse-based activated carbon using aqueous methylene blue (MB).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the technique and clinical results following the utilization of biomechanical and biological means for adequate fracture healing in management of non-union of the neck of femur while preventing distortion of normal hip biomechanics.

Methods: Twenty-two patients with non-united fractures of femoral neck in adults were treated with what was termed the 'triple attack' procedure. This constituted iliac autogenous bone grafting, valgus subtrochanteric osteotomy together with static fixation across the non-union fracture site of the neck to avoid delayed femoral neck shortening.

The efficacy of SP-D concentration as a useful biomarker of the severity of lung injury in children with bronchopneumonia with or without chronic airway disease was studied. A total of 48 patients (2 to 4 years old) diagnosed bronchopneumonia were admitted to Department of Pediatrics, Al-Dar hospital, Al-Madinah, Saudi Arabia over the year 2009. They were divided into two groups: G1 included patients without any underlying disease and G2 included asthmatic patients.

The association between plasma glucose (PG), HbA1c and serum cortisol levels in children with type 1 diabetes was investigated to determine the influence of serum cortisol on their glycemic control. A total of 45 children, aged 10-15 years, with type 1 diabetes for at least 3 years of diabetes were studied. Most of them did not have pancreatic beta-cell function.

The placental alkaline phosphatase (PAP) activity progressively rises as pregnancy advances, possibly, because of its increasing synthesis by placental tissue. The present study examined the relationship between placental alkaline phosphatase activity and the biochemical indices of foetal nutrition (cord blood glucose, albumin) and growth (neonatal birth weight). Placental and umbilical cord blood samples were collected from 56 term deliveries 30 of them were appropriate for gestational age (AGA) and 26 were small for gestational age(SGA) and prepared for placental alkaline phosphatase assay, glucose and albumin estimations using standard procedures.
