The genus Thalpomena Saussure, 1884 is distributed in North Africa, Somalia and Ethiopia. It currently contains nine species, including one species with four subspecies; Seven of them (including one with four subspecies) are distributed in the Atlas Mountains, one in Libya and one (originally described in the genus Vosseleria) in the Somali Highlands. In this study, we propose taxonomic changes based on morphological, genetic, ecological and morphometric data from a previous study.

This paper presents the first description of the gene in a colistin-resistant Cupriavidus gilardii isolate from well water that supplies a maternity hospital in Algeria. The whole-genome sequence of this strain showed the presence of putative β-lactamase, , and multidrug efflux pump-encoding genes, which could explain the observed multidrug resistance phenotype. Our findings are of great interest, as we highlight a potential contamination route for the spread of genes.

Carbapenems are the β-lactam antibiotics of choice with the broadest spectrum of activity and, in many cases, are the last-resort treatment for several bacterial infections. In this study, the photodegradation of organophosphorus (OPs) pesticides in the honey medium was evaluated under sunlight irradiation. Some of the 22 samples collected at different sites contained OPs pesticides (Methyl parathion, Coumaphos and Fenitrothion) with an average of 8 ng/g. Moreover, three samples were found with pesticide residue levels exceeding the maximum residue limits (MRL ≥ 50 ng/g) imposed by the standard water (WHO).

The new species Dociostaurus biskrensis Moussi & Petit 2013 was collected in the region of Biskra, at the arido-Saharan limit of Eastern Algerian. We also describe the males of four species for which only females were known: Pamphagulus bodenheimeri dumonti, P. uvarovi, Notopleura pygmaea and Sphingonotus ebneri.

Through monthly samplings of grasshoppers taken from five sites in oases and two in steppes in the area of Biskra, 45 species could be recorded. Four assemblages of species can be defined, two in the oasian zones, one in the stony steppe and a last one in the sandy steppe. The two oasian assemblages are interpreted in the light of a gradient of salinity and humidity determined by the vegetation.
