A polymer based nanocomposite (NC) material embedded with highly luminescent nanopowders could be promising for replacing traditional luminescent materials from a technological point of view. In this study, we have successfully obtained YPO: Sm /Polymer nanocomposite phosphor films by embedding YPO: Sm luminescent nanoparticles (NPs) for orange-light emitting diode (LED) applications. These luminescent NPs were synthesized using the sol gel method in different polymer matrices i.

The optical, structural, and magnetic properties of the nanoparticles were examined using UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and SQUID magnetization measurements. The HRTEM and XRD analysis confirmed the formation of ultra-small magnetite nanoparticles in a spinel structure, with a smaller size for radiation-induced particles coated by PA (5.

MPS is used as the bifunctional agent, as it hydrolyzes fast, cross-links with the silica framework, and provides thiol groups to anchor Cd(2+), and subsequently forms CdS clusters. The MFI crystals with the thiol groups not only function as a nanochamber for the formation of CdS but also prevent further moisture-induced agglomeration of the clusters.
