Background: We described our local experiences with a single-layer wrapping technique for the vascular anastomoses in patients with Adamantiadis-Behçet's aortic/aortoiliac aneurysms using InterGard Silver-impregnated Dacron® patch prosthesis.
Methods: Between January 2013 to December 2019, we retrospectively reviewed 20 patients presented with Adamantiadis-Behçet's aortic/aortoiliac aneurysms. All patients presented with Adamantiadis-Behçet's aortic/aortoiliac aneurysms.
Metformin-treated diabetics (MTD) showed a decrease in cobalamin, a rise in homocysteine, and methylmalonic acid, leading to accentuated diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). This study aimed to determine whether or not metformin is a risk factor for DPN. We compared MTD to non-metformin-treated diabetics (NMTD) clinically using the Toronto Clinical Scoring System (TCSS), laboratory (methylmalonic acid, cobalamin, and homocysteine), and electrophysiological studies.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: This study was conducted to evaluate our local experiences of adjunctive mechanical prosthetic wrapping for aortoiliac vascular anastomoses as a prophylactic measure following surgical repair of Behçet's aortoiliac aneurysms. The goal of prosthetic wrapping to reinforce the vascular anastomoses by mechanical protection to reduce the bleeding complications, and consequently pseudoaneurysm formation. This was aided by the administration of pre- and postoperative immunosuppressive therapy as an adjuvant treatment.

Methods: Seventy Egyptian subjects were enrolled in our study and divided into two groups: RA group (n = 50 patients) and healthy control group (n = 20 subjects). Five milliliter blood sample was withdrawn from each subject followed by laboratory investigation and DNA extraction for SIRT-1 gene polymorphism assessment (rs7895833 A>G, rs7069102 C>G and rs2273773 C>T) and vitamin D level expression.
