Effects of different treatments for obstructive sleep apnea on temporomandibular joint: a randomized clinical trial.

Background: In recent years, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been increasingly recognized as a significant health concern. No previous studies assessed the effect of recommended treatment modalities of patients with OSA on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of different treatment modalities of OSA, such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), mandibular advancement device (MAD), and oral myofunctional therapy (OMT) on subjective symptoms, clinical, and radiographic signs of temporomandibular disorders.

BASET scoring: A novel simple biometric score for screening and grading obstructive sleep apnea.

Background: Polysomnography (PSG) is the gold-standard diagnostic tool for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). However, the availability of PSG is limited, and OSA is widely underdiagnosed; more than 80% of most developed nations undiagnosed. There is no diagnostic validated simple tool with clear cutoff point for predicting and roll out patient with OSA in primary care clinics significantly alters clinical outcomes.

Diagnostic criteria for house dust mites sensitized allergic patients.

House dust mites (HDM) contain a large number of components that react with IgE in individuals with allergies and induced sensi-tization and allergic diseases. The work aimed to correlate between clinical manifestations of HDM allergic patients and skin prick test (SPT) grading, and to clarify some markers denoting allergic disorders caused by HDM exposure. Thirty allergic patients with positive SPT reaction to HDM were selected, grading of disease severity according to SPT and clinical presentations.
