Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common gastrointestinal malignancy with a complicated behavior including relapse, metastasis, and development of resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. Silent information regulator 2 homologue 1 (SIRT1), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and yes-associated protein (YAP) are cancer-related genes that have unclarified actions and even controversial roles in many human cancers including CRC. The current study aimed to evaluate the prognostic roles of SIRT1, STAT3, and YAP in CRC.

Side effects and low efficacy of current anti-toxoplasmosis therapeutics against encysted bradyzoites necessitate research into alternative safe therapeutic options. The safety, immunostimulatory, and antimicrobial properties of alginate nanoparticle formulation (Alg-NP) highlight its potential as an oral therapy against acute toxoplasmosis. In the current study, Alg-NP was formulated and characterized and then assessed for its anti-Toxoplasma effects using parasitological, ultrastructural, immunological, and histopathological studies.

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of immediate neoadjuvant electromotive instillation of mitomycin C before transurethral resection for patients with non-muscle-invasive urothelial bladder cancer.

Materials And Methods: Our study was a randomized clinical trial carried out on 50 patients diagnosed with non-muscle-invasive urothelial bladder cancer.

The consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have increased lately around the world, as they are considered essential and popular drugs for effective reduction of pain and inflammation. Implications of the medication regimen complexity index score on hospital readmissions in elderly patients with heart failure: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: The likelihood of elderly patients with heart failure (HF) being readmitted to the hospital is higher if they have a higher medication regimen complexity index (MRCI) compared to those with a lower MRCI. The objective of this study was to investigate whether there is a correlation between the MRCI score and the frequency of hospital readmissions (30-day, 90-day, and 1-year) among elderly patients with HF.

Methods: In this single-center retrospective cohort study, MRCI scores were calculated using a well-established tool.

Hemofiltration as an Alternative for IL-6 Inhibitors in COVID-19 Cytokines Storm Associated with Underlaying Bacterial Infections: A Review Article.

The prognosis of lipid reprogramming with the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, rosuvastatin, in castrated Egyptian prostate cancer patients: Randomized trial.

Aim: The role of surgical castration and rosuvastatin treatment on lipid profile and lipid metabolism related markers was evaluated for their prognostic significance in metastatic prostate cancer (mPC) patients.

Methods: A total of 84 newly diagnosed castrated mPC patients treated with castration were recruited and divided into two groups: Group I served as control (statin non-users) while group II treated with Rosuvastatin (20 mg/day) for 6 months and served as statin users. Prostate specific antigen (PSA), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Caveolin-1 (CAV1), lipid profile (LDL, HDL, triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC)) and lipid metabolism related markers (aldoketoreductase (AKR1C4), HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR), ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1), and soluble low density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1 (SLDLRP1)) were measured at baseline, after 3 and 6 months.

Long-term sun exposure is the commonest cause of photoaging, where mutual interplay between autophagy, oxidative stress, and apoptosis is incriminated. In combating photoaging, pharmacological approaches targeted to modulate autophagy are currently gaining more ground. This study aimed to examine repurposing metformin use in such context with or without the antioxidant coenzyme Q10 (coQ10) in ultraviolet A (UVA) irradiation-induced skin damage.

RON, ROR1 and SUSD2 expression in tissues of endometrial carcinoma patients. Clinicopathological and prognostic implications.

Introduction: Endometrial carcinoma is now considered a common female gynecologic cancer with increasing incidence, with 13-25% of patients being still liable to recurrence and metastasis, which needs further studies to detect novel targets and new therapies. The aim of the study was evaluate tissue expression of RON, ROR1 and SUSD2 in endometrial carcinoma and atypical endometrial hyperplasia using immunohistochemistry and correlate their expression with clinical, pathological and prognostic parameters of patients.

Material And Methods: We included samples from 100 patients with endometrial carcinoma.

Myxoid liposarcoma (MLPS) has different patterns that are often difficult to distinguish from other soft tissue lesions. MLPS is characterized by a reciprocal translocation involving the DNA Damage Inducible Transcript 3 gene that can be detected using fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). Recently, the marker for cancer testis antigen 1b (CTAG1B) was found to be expressed in MLPS.

Clinical evaluation of pregnant women with SARS-COV2 pneumonia: a real-life study from Egypt.

Background: Knowledge about the outcome of COVID-19 on pregnant women is so important. The published literature on the outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19 is confusing. The aim of this study was to report our clinical experience about the effect of COVID-19 on pregnant women and to determine whether it was associated with increased mortality or an increase in the need for mechanical ventilation in this special category of patients.

Implementing Spanlastics for Improving the Ocular Delivery of Clotrimazole: In vitro Characterization, Ex vivo Permeability, Microbiological Assessment and In vivo Safety Study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to encapsulate clotrimazole (CLT), an antifungal drug with poor water solubility characteristics, into spanlastics (SPs) to provide a controlled ocular delivery of the drug.

Methods: Span 60 was used in the formulation of SPs with Tween 80, Pluronic F127, or Kolliphor RH40 as an edge activator (EA). The presence of EA offers more elasticity to the membrane of the vesicles which is expected to increase the corneal permeation of CLT.

Favipiravir-induced nephrotoxicity in a patient with COVID-19: A case report.

This report describes a case of 45 years old male patient who tested positive for COVID-19 presented to the emergency department on March 2021 complaining of fever, cough, runny nose, and shortness of breath. The patient denied any history of nausea or diarrhea who has eventually developed favipiravir-induced nephrotoxicity.

Variables affecting quality of life after Radical cystectomy and neobladder substitution: Egyptian National Cancer Institute experience.

Introduction: To evaluate the functional outcomes and quality of life beyond 1 year, in patients treated with radical cystectomy and orthotopic diversion for invasive bladder cancer. To investigate various potential contributing factors on patient's quality of life after radical cystectomy and urinary diversion via orthotopic neobladder.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo; including a total of 97 patients who underwent radical cystectomy and orthotopic diversion.
