Mitigating spill pollution in the Nile River is crucial to protecting aquatic life, water quality, and public health. Extensive studies focused on the assessment of water quality and hydrodynamics of the Nile River, but there have been relatively few studies that have applied integrated hydrodynamic and water quality modeling approaches to simulate actual accidents in the Nile Fourth Reach. The goal of this study is to develop advanced computational models to simulate accidental spills in the Nile River and track the resulting impacts on water quality.

Africa is the second populous continent, and its population has the fastest growing rate. Some African countries are still plagued by poverty, poor sanitary conditions and limited resources, such as clean drinking water, food supply, electricity, and effective waste management systems. Underfunded healthcare systems, poor training and lack of awareness of policies and legislations on handling medical waste have led to increased improper handling of waste within hospitals, healthcare facilities and transportation and storage of medical waste.

The greater the use of energy in the transportation sectors, the higher the emission of carbon monoxide (CO), and hence inevitable harm to environment and human health. In this concern, measuring and predicting of CO emission from transportation sector-especially large cities-is important as it constitute 90 % of all CO emission. Many urban cities in developing world have not properly experienced such measurements or predictions.
