Background: IVIg is a blood-derived antibody product initially designed as a replacement therapy in inborn errors of immunity (IEIs). However, over the last 50 years, IVIg has been used to treat a growing range of autoimmune, autoinflammatory, and secondary immunodeficiency disorders. The US FDA has licensed IVIg for use in the treatment of nine clinical indications; although, IVIg global usage extends to off-label indications with variable treatment responses.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA 34-year-old female patient, with no comorbidities, presented with complaints of upper back pain across the shoulders, with altered sensation on the left side from trunk to lower limb, which was associated with reduced motor function and an acute symptom of urinary retention. On examination, there was reduced power in the left lower limb, reduced anal tone, a positive Babinski sign bilaterally, and reduced sensation in the perianal region. Serial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans were conducted, where initially an upper thoracic lesion suggestive of an intramedullary cavernoma was found, and nearly a decade later, an adjacent extradural lesion causing cord compression was found incidentally through a surgical procedure.

In order to accomplish this goal, an experimental program consisting of eight test specimens has been carried out and numerical finite element modeling has been employed for the same specimens to analyze the stresses and deformations that occur within the vicinity of bracket-to-CHS joints. A total of 15 finite element models were constructed to simulate the initial study, addressing boundary conditions and facilitating verification and results comparison.

We aimed primarily to assess the difference in cup positioning (inclination and anteversion) between the right and left sides during primary THA. Secondly, to check the difference in the percentages of cups positioned in the safe zone for inclination and anteversion and if there will be a difference in cup positioning according to the type of cup fixation (cemented vs.

The prepared TNTs@Cs composites has been characterized by various techniques such as XRD, SEM, and TEM analysis. The adsorption analysis displayed that the adsorption capacity of CV dye onto the modified Cs with TNTs is 92.

The aim of this work was to study risk factors associated with occurrence of CMBs in patients with stroke who received intravenous thrombolysis, and to clarify their impact on the clinical outcome.
Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted on 61 acute ischemic stroke patients eligible for treatment with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA).
Use of tumor-suppressive microRNAs (miRNAs) as anti-cancer agents is hindered by the lack of effective delivery vehicles, entrapment of the miRNA within endocytic compartments, and rapid degradation of miRNA by nucleases. To address these issues, we developed a miRNA delivery strategy that includes (1) a targeting ligand, (2) an endosomal escape agent, nigericin and (3) a chemically modified miRNA. The delivery ligand, DUPA (2-[3-(1,3-dicarboxy propyl) ureido] pentanedioic acid), was selected based on its specificity for prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a receptor routinely upregulated in prostate cancer-one of the leading causes of cancer death among men.

Geopolymer cement is a promising technology to totally replace the use of PC in the oil and gas industry. Although geopolymers are widely used in the construction industry, it is yet to see a full-scale application in the petroleum industry.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFoam cement is a versatile cementing material that has found numerous applications in the oil and gas industry. As research continues to advance and improve the properties of foam cement, it is likely that we will see an increased use of this material in the years to come. This review aims to summarize the current state of the art and the latest developments in the utilization of foam cement in oil fields.

The maximum adsorption capacity of the AC and ZnO@AC composite toward both dyes was achieved in the strong acidic medium (pH = 3), and under stirring for 60 min. The kinetic studies revealed that the adsorption of MR and MO dyes onto the AC and ZnO@AC composite fitted well with the pseudo-second-order model.

A critical factor contributing to its lethality is the presence of prostate cancer stem cells (PCSCs), which can self-renew, long-term propagate tumors, and mediate treatment resistance. MicroRNA-34a (miR-34a) has shown promise as an anti-PCSC therapeutic by targeting critical molecules involved in cancer stem cell (CSC) survival and functions.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of either primary scoliosis or hip surgery in children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on all children and young adults with neuromuscular-related synchronous hip subluxation/dislocation and scoliosis undergoing hip or scoliosis surgery in our institution between 2012 and 2021 with a minimum follow-up of 24 months.
Results: Incidence of local recurrence was slightly higher in Group A (8.7%) than in Group B (4.3%) but was not statistically significant.

Iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) had the highest contents in both island sediments, while cobalt (Co) in Big Giftun and cadmium (Cd) in Abu Mingar had the lowest values. The obtained PCA data exhibited positively significant loadings of Cd, Co, copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), and zinc (Zn) with 51.

Cyclic strabismus is a rare entity and is unique in that patients follow variable but reliable time cycles where they alternate between orthotropia or "straight" eyes and strabismus, most commonly in the form of esotropia. Despite many theories on the underlying etiology and unique features of this diagnosis, none have been proven and its pathophysiology remains unknown. Four cases of cyclic esotropia diagnosed by pediatric ophthalmologists have been included in this report.

Without question, a striking number of patients with cancer would benefit from miR-34a replacement, if poor miR-34a stability, non-specific delivery, and delivery-associated toxicity could be overcome. Here, we highlight a fully modified version of miR-34a (FM-miR-34a) that overcomes these hurdles when conjugated to a synthetically simplistic ligand.

Emerald and other beryls represent a family of the most valuable gemstone around the world and particularly in Egypt. Beryllium (Be) contents in beryl-bearing bedrocks in south Sinai (Wadi Ghazala and Wadi Sedri), and in central and south Eastern Desert of Egypt (Igla area, Zabara-Um Addebaa belt, Homret Akarem, and Homret Mukpid) were investigated in this study. The environmental risk levels of Be, associated major ions, and heavy metals in groundwater nearby to beryl-bearing mineralization were also evaluated.
