The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT)-based heterogeneous wireless sensor network (HWSN) technology has become widespread, playing a significant role in the development of diverse human-centric applications. The role of efficient resource utilisation, particularly energy, becomes further critical in IoT-based HWSNs than it was in WSNs. Researchers have proposed numerous approaches to either increase the provisioned resources on network devices or to achieve efficient utilisation of these resources during network operations.

Flexible wavelength-, pulse-controlled mode-locked all-fiber laser based on a fiber Lyot filter.

In this paper, we report a flexible wavelength-, pulse-controlled mode-locked all-fiber laser based on a novel fiber optic Lyot filter. The wavelength, pulse duration and spectral bandwidth of passive mode-locked lasers can be tuned by controlling the polarization controller. The proposed Lyot filter was constructed by a single-mode fiber insertion between two polarization-maintaining fibers.

Subspace Compressive GLRT Detector for MIMO Radar in the Presence of Clutter.

The problem of optimising the target detection performance of MIMO radar in the presence of clutter is considered. The increased false alarm rate which is a consequence of the presence of clutter returns is known to seriously degrade the target detection performance of the radar target detector, especially under low SNR conditions. In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed to optimise the target detection performance of a MIMO radar detector in the presence of clutter.

Development of two electronic bladder diaries: a patient and healthcare professionals pilot study.

Aims: Assess patients' preferences in a pilot crossover study of two different electronic voiding diaries against a standard paper diary. Assess urological health professional (HP) opinions on the electronic bladder diary reporting system.

Methods: Two different electronic diaries were developed: (1) electronically read diary-a card with predefined slots read by a card reader and (2) e-diary-a handheld touch screen device.
