Background There is ongoing debate regarding the impact of direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs) on the occurrence of de novo hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a crucial role in the development and angiogenesis of HCC. Aim This study aims to evaluate dynamic changes in vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels at different point times during and after treatment of HCV to evaluate the risk of de novo HCC in DAAs-treated HCV patients.

We aimed to identify the demographic, epidemiologic, clinical, laboratory, and radiological characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients diagnosed with fascioliasis in Egypt. Data on human fascioliasis were collected retrospectively from patients' medical records in the period between January 2018 and January 2020.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to screen for significant hepatic fibrosis or steatosis in asymptomatic, apparently healthy subjects by using Vibration-controlled transient elastography and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP).
Methods: Prospectively, 433 asymptomatic apparently healthy adults were included. Fibroscan/CAP examination was performed for all of them.
Magnesium alloys containing biocompatible components show tremendous promise for applications as temporary biomedical devices. However, to ensure their safe use as biodegradeable implants, it is essential to control their corrosion rates. In concentrated Mg alloys, a microgalvanic coupling between the α-Mg matrix and secondary precipitates exists which results in increased corrosion rate.

The origin of gender differences in HCV prevalence is not usually well understood. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to review and evaluate the gender differences in HCV infection rates amongst Egyptians.

In this study, we aimed to highlight the clinical characteristics, risk factors and diagnostic outcomes of patients presented with indeterminate biliary stricture.
Method: A Retrospective multicenter study included all patients diagnosed with IBS in the participating centers between 2017 and 2021.
Background: Since the emergence of the novel corona virus (SARS-Cov-2) in the late 2019 and not only the endoscopy practice and training but also the health care systems around the globe suffers. This systematic review focused the impact of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) on the endoscopy practice.
Methods: A web search of different databases combining different search terms describing the endoscopy practice and the COVID-19 pandemic was done.
Background And Aim: Little is known about the persistence of symptoms after clearance of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Our study aimed to assess persistent symptoms in COVID-19 patients after clearance of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Methodology: A multi-center survey was conducted on first wave COVID-19 patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection.
In the process of urinary stone formation, several heavy metals and trace elements (HMTE) have been identified among the major constituents of the calculi. The micro-elements within the stones cannot be identified by ordinary laboratory analytical techniques, the latter can only detect the major crystalline component. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the different types of HMTE (no.

Background: The incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) is increasing among young individuals in the Arab world as well as in other regions of the world.
Aim: To explore the incidence and prevalence of CRC in the Arab world.
Methods: The PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCO and Wiley databases were searched to retrieve relevant articles irrespective of the language or the publication year.
Background: the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted on several aspects of health care services worldwide. The aim of the study was to determine its influence on the case volume, success rate and complication rate of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Method: all patients who underwent ERCP one-year before and after applying COVID-19 safety measures at the Qena University Hospital were included.
Background: The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected routine endoscopy service across the gastroenterology community. This led to the suspension of service provision for elective cases.
Aim: To assess the potential barriers for resuming the endoscopy service in Egypt.
Lizard and snake remains from the early Miocene (Burdigalian) of the Moghra Formation, Egypt, are described herein. This material comprises the first fossil remains of squamates recovered from the otherwise rich and well known vertebrate assemblage of Moghra. The material pertains to two different genera, the varanid lizard and the pythonid snake and adds to the so far rather poorly known squamate fossil record from Africa.

Many reports have documented the association between some TMTE and renal cell carcinoma. In this work, we assessed the presence (qualitative) and evaluated the concentration (quantitative) of 22 TMTE in three groups of kidney tissue samples: renal cell carcinoma (RCC), adjacent non-cancerous, and control kidney tissues from cadavers.

This study aimed to find whether RigiScan can predict the response to sildenafil among erectile dysfunction (ED) patients and to find which RigiScan parameter produces the best prediction. Medical records of 172 ED patients were revised regarding their full sexual history, standard andrology examination, NPTR monitoring by the RigiScan device, and the degree of response to sildenafil.
