BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) is a tumor suppressor gene that was first identified in 1998. Germline loss of functional variants in BAP1 is associated with a tumor predisposition syndrome with at least four cancers; uveal melanoma (UM), malignant mesothelioma (MMe), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and cutaneous melanoma (CM). Furthermore, somatic BAP1 mutations are important drivers for several cancers most notably UM, MMe, RCC, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

The current study aimed to isolate and identify oleaginous yeasts having superior ability to accumulate high quantities of lipids; and enhancing lipid production using response surface methodology and repeated-batch fermentation. Results revealed that, twenty marine oleaginous yeasts were isolated, and the most potent lipid producer isolate was Candida parapsilosis Y19 according to qualitative screening test using Nile-red dye.

In 2023, the first annual meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Faculty, organized by the Egyptian Cancer Research Network and the Egyptian Society of Respiratory Neoplasms, was held in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting aimed to address gaps in lung cancer management across Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.

We fabricated three samples with distinct metal contacts: Platinum (HPS-Pt) and Aluminium/Platinum (HPS-Al/Pt) on high-quality single crystal CVD diamond, and Platinum (VS-Pt) on lower purity single crystal CVD diamond. Our objective was to identify the most suitable sample for synchrotron measurements, particularly focusing on the lower purity sample due to its unique characteristics, such as thin nitrogen lines and substrate area.

The results revealed that water deficit significantly reduced most studied traits. Irrigation level at 60% based on ET exhibited poorest performance on growth parameters and decreased fresh yield and essential oil yield by 27.

These peptides are widely studied for several reasons including their use in drug discovery. Although improvements in RNAseq have greatly expedited the discovery of new scorpion toxins, their annotation remains challenging, mainly due to their small size.

The study observed what happens to rats administered subcutaneously sub-lethal doses of crude venom Naja nubiae. The pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as the anti-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-10 (IL-10), and inflammatory mediator's prostaglandin E-2 (PG-E2), were evaluated.

The thermo-kinetic aspects of 3-hydroxybutyric acid (3-HBA) pyrolysis in the gas phase were investigated using density functional theory (DFT), specifically the M06-2X theoretical level in conjunction with the cc-pVTZ basis set. The obtained data were compared with benchmark CBS-QB3 results. The degradation mechanism was divided into 16 pathways, comprising 6 complex fissions and 10 barrierless reactions.

Intermolecular interactions are analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) and atoms in molecules (AIM) techniques. NO-substituted TEMPO displays high reactivity, less stability, and softer properties.

Marine creatures including class have been one of the recent research topics due to their diverse and complex secondary metabolites. Some of these constituents exhibit antiviral activities.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: One of the most dangerous problems that the world faced recently is viral respiratory pathogens. Marine creatures, including Echinodermata, specially Asteroidea class (starfish) have been extensively studied due to their miscellaneous bioactivities, excellent pharmacological properties, and complex secondary metabolites, including steroids, steroidal glycosides, anthraquinones, alkaloids, phospholipids, peptides, and fatty acids. These chemical constituents show antiviral activities against a wide range of viruses, including respiratory viruses.

Scorpion venoms are known to contain highly bioactive peptides, several of which have demonstrated strong antiviral activity against a range of viruses. We have generated the first annotated reference transcriptome for the Androctonus amoreuxi venom gland and used high performance liquid chromatography, transcriptome mining, circular dichroism and mass spectrometric analysis to purify and characterize twelve previously undescribed venom peptides.

The gas-phase formation enthalpies of 11 BN-doped azulene were calculated by the atomization energy method using three computational models (CBS-APNO, CBS-QB3, and G3MP2). The results suggest that AZ-1N9B exhibits the highest stability among the studied isomers.

Thermo-kinetic features of different conversion processes were estimated in temperature range 273-333 K using the Transition state theory (TST) accompanied with one dimensional Eckert tunneling correction (1D-Eck). Acidity and basicity were computed as well, and the computational results were compared against the experimental ones.
