BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) is a tumor suppressor gene that was first identified in 1998. Germline loss of functional variants in BAP1 is associated with a tumor predisposition syndrome with at least four cancers; uveal melanoma (UM), malignant mesothelioma (MMe), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and cutaneous melanoma (CM). Furthermore, somatic BAP1 mutations are important drivers for several cancers most notably UM, MMe, RCC, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Oleaginous yeasts are considered promising sources for lipid production due to their ability to accumulate high levels of lipids under appropriate growth conditions. The current study aimed to isolate and identify oleaginous yeasts having superior ability to accumulate high quantities of lipids; and enhancing lipid production using response surface methodology and repeated-batch fermentation. Results revealed that, twenty marine oleaginous yeasts were isolated, and the most potent lipid producer isolate was Candida parapsilosis Y19 according to qualitative screening test using Nile-red dye.

In this project, we conducted micro-beam sensitivity mapping using the Diamond Light Source (DLS) synchrotron. We fabricated three samples with distinct metal contacts: Platinum (HPS-Pt) and Aluminium/Platinum (HPS-Al/Pt) on high-quality single crystal CVD diamond, and Platinum (VS-Pt) on lower purity single crystal CVD diamond. Our objective was to identify the most suitable sample for synchrotron measurements, particularly focusing on the lower purity sample due to its unique characteristics, such as thin nitrogen lines and substrate area.

The objective of this study was to examine the response of geranium plants to different irrigation levels (100%, 80%, and 60% based on ET) and Kaolin application rates (0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm) during 2022 and 2023 seasons, at Aly Mobarak Experimental Farm, Horticulture Research Station, located at El-Bustan site, El-Behiera Governorate, Egypt, by using a two-way factorial analysis experimental design. The results revealed that water deficit significantly reduced most studied traits. Irrigation level at 60% based on ET exhibited poorest performance on growth parameters and decreased fresh yield and essential oil yield by 27.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic shows the critical need for novel broad spectrum antiviral agents. Scorpion venoms are known to contain highly bioactive peptides, several of which have demonstrated strong antiviral activity against a range of viruses. We have generated the first annotated reference transcriptome for the Androctonus amoreuxi venom gland and used high performance liquid chromatography, transcriptome mining, circular dichroism and mass spectrometric analysis to purify and characterize twelve previously undescribed venom peptides.

Herein, we investigated the thermodynamic stability and opto-electronic properties of a newly BN-doped azulene. The gas-phase formation enthalpies of 11 BN-doped azulene were calculated by the atomization energy method using three computational models (CBS-APNO, CBS-QB3, and G3MP2). The results suggest that AZ-1N9B exhibits the highest stability among the studied isomers.

The tautomerizations mechanism of 4-(methylsulfanyl)-3[(1Z)-1-(2-phenylhydrazinylidene) ethyl] quinoline-2(1H)-one were inspected in the gas phase and ethanol using density function theory (DFT) M06-2X and B3LYP methods.
