Background: Following the latest war in 2023, over nine million people have been internally displaced, of which White Nile State received over 50,000. They lived in different camps and moved to big cities. This study assessed the scope of mental and physical concerns among the IDPs to identify important healthcare needs.

Therefore, in this research, we assessed the cytotoxicity of pristine and photodegraded spray paint-derived MPs on the midgut, Malpighian tubules, and hepato-nephrocitic system cells of Bombus atratus workers exposed to 50 mg.L MPs for 96 hours.

The primary goal of this research is to investigate and predict a Flood Susceptibility Map (FSM) for the Ibaraki prefecture in Japan. This research utilizes a Random Forest (RF) regression model and GIS, incorporating 11 environmental variables (involving elevation, slope, aspect, distance to stream, distance to river, distance to road, land cover, topographic wetness index, stream power index, and plan and profile curvature), alongside a dataset comprising 224 instances of flooded and non-flooded locations.

Although the occurrence of diarrheal episodes is on the decline, its impact continues to escalate at a concerning rate among children under the age of five, especially in developing countries. The objective of this paper is to investigate the factors associated with diarrhea in Yemeni children younger than five years, drawing on data from the latest edition of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) Yemen conducted in 2022-2023.

The sample included 161 children aged 20 to 37 months: 127 TD and 34 children who were late talkers (LT group).

Thus, we evaluated the potential genotoxicity of Cd to the hepato-nephrocitic system of Bombus atratus foraging workers exposed to environmentally safe doses of Cd (0.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAquatic contaminants and infectious diseases are among the major drivers of global amphibian declines. However, the interaction of these factors is poorly explored and could better explain the amphibian crisis. We exposed males and females of the Brazilian Cururu Toad, Rhinella icterica, to an environmentally relevant concentration of the estrogen 17-alpha-ethinylestradiol (an emerging contaminant) and to the chytrid infection (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis), in their combined and isolated forms, and the ecotoxicity was determined by multiple biomarkers: cutaneous, hematological, cardiac, hepatic, and gonadal analysis.

Methods: Scientific publications, reports and websites were reviewed between July and December 2021 using PubMed, Google Scholar, and grey literature sources. The main items searched were actors and processes, including timelines, characteristics of clinical and economic evaluations, participation of stakeholders, elements of price and reimbursement decisions, cost-effectiveness thresholds and specific funds.
Cholera, an enteric disease caused by Vibrio cholera claims thousands of lives yearly. The disease is a disease of inequality that affect populations which have poor access to safe water and sanitation facilities. Zanzibar, an archipelago in the Indian ocean which is part of the United Republic of Tanzania has been affected by recurrent cholera outbreak for the past decades.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmphibians are very sensitive to many environmental changes, so these animals are considered good bioindicator models for ecotoxicology. Given the importance of the amphibian spleen for hematopoietic and immune responses, this can be a key organ for the evaluation of biomarkers to monitor the health of individuals in nature or in captivity. In this systematic review, we searched databases and summarized the main findings concerning the amphibian spleen as a source of possible biomarkers applied in different scientific fields.

Here, we investigate the effects of obesity induced by monosodium glutamate (MSG) on cognitive impairment and whether this model induces any alteration in the affinity, density, and subtypes of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) in rat hippocampus. Healthy rats were used as controls, and MSG-obese rats were selected via the Lee index > 0.300.

Purpose: This study examines the development of narrative microstructure elements of productivity, lexical diversity, and syntactic complexity in the oral story production of preschool- and school-age Kuwaiti Arabic-speaking children. It also explores the effects of story task complexity on the target microstructural features.
Method: This study employed a cross-sectional research design and enrolled 96 monolingual speakers of Kuwaiti Arabic.
Background: In recent years, significant advances have been made in the field of rare diseases (RDs). However, there is a large number of RDs without specific treatment and half of these treatments have public funding in Spain. The aim of the FINEERR project was to carry out a multidisciplinary strategic discussion on the challenge of funding and access to RD-targeted drugs in Spain, in order to agree on specific proposals for medium-term improvement and hence support decision-making in the Spanish National Healthcare System (SNHS).

In the current study, we examined the response of Myo/Nog cells during ERM formation in a mouse model of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR).
Methods: PVR was induced by intravitreal injections of gas and ARPE-19 cells.

Purpose: This article outlines opportunities and challenges pertaining to service delivery faced by audiologists and speech-language pathologists/therapists working in Arabic-speaking Middle Eastern nations. Among the most diverse regions in the world, the Middle East is a region characterized by rapid development in a number of sectors relevant to audiology and speech-language pathology, including education and health care. Despite these developments, there remains a number of challenges, including growing service demands, awareness of the scope of practice of audiologists and speech-language pathologists/therapists, regulation of clinical practice, and shortages of clinicians and evidence-based clinical resources.

Background: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is a rare, debilitating, and potentially fatal disease. This study aims to quantify the economic burden of PAH in Spain.
Methods: The study was conducted from a societal perspective, including direct and indirect costs associated with incident and prevalent patients.
Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease that affects the skin, with a high impact on patients' quality of life. The aim of this study was to identify and determine the relative importance of unmet needs in the management of moderate-to-severe psoriasis in Spain, from a multi-stakeholder perspective. A mixed method-approach was used to collect information, design a questionnaire and a discrete-choice exercise, and elicit the unmet needs through a multidisciplinary committee composed of 12 experts.
