Prevalence and correlates of depressive symptoms among nurses during COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: During any critical health care situation as COVID-19 pandemic, it is expected that the medical staff will be under a high level of stress. However, nurses specifically are under both physical and psychological pressure during this pandemic, with a risk of mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Accordingly, nurses exposed to patients with COVID-19 infection are expected to suffer from a high level of depressive symptoms.

Safety and efficacy of daridorexant in the treatment of insomnia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Daridorexant is a novel dual orexin receptor antagonist used in treating insomnia disorder. Daridorexant improves sleep quality without impairing daytime functioning. We assess the safety and efficacy of this novel drug in the treatment of insomnia.

Mini-laparotomy for cholecystectomy in resourced limited settings: a 10-year retrospective hospital-based study.

Cholecystectomy is a commonly performed abdominal procedure, the gold standard currently is the laparoscopic approach and, however, the facilities and expertise for laparoscopy are not available widely, especially in developing countries. A Mini-laparotomy cholecystectomy is an additional approach that is performed through an incision that is less than 5 cm thus minimizing the complications of the traditional open cholecystectomy and the postoperative hospital stay. The study aims to evaluate the outcome of mini-laparotomy cholecystectomy in terms of operative duration, complications, and hospital stay in a rural hospital.

Role of Platelet-activating factor and HO-1 in mediating the protective effect of rupatadine against 5-fluorouracil-induced hepatotoxicity in rats.

5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is a widely used chemotherapeutic drug, but its hepatotoxicity challenges its clinical use. Thus, searching for a hepatoprotective agent is highly required to prevent the accompanied hepatic hazards. The current study aimed to investigate the potential benefit and mechanisms of action of rupatadine (RU), a Platelet-activating factor (PAF) antagonist, in the prevention of 5-FU-related hepatotoxicity in rats.

One Year of SARS-CoV-2: Genomic Characterization of COVID-19 Outbreak in Qatar.

Qatar, a country with a strong health system and a diverse population consisting mainly of expatriate residents, has experienced two large waves of COVID-19 outbreak. In this study, we report on 2634 SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequences from infected patients in Qatar between March-2020 and March-2021, representing 1.5% of all positive cases in this period.

The influence of heterogeneity and initial stress on the propagation of Love-type wave in a transversely isotropic layer subjected to rotation.

Introduction: In this paper, a mathematical model of Love-type wave propagation in a heterogeneous transversely isotropic elastic layer subjected to initial stress and rotation of the resting on a rigid foundation. Frequency equation of Love-type wave is obtained in closed form. The material constants and initial stress have been taken as space dependent and arbitrary functions of depth in the respective media.

Rapid situational assessment of people who inject drugs (PWID) in Nairobi and coastal regions of Kenya: a respondent driven sampling survey.

Background: A Cross-sectional Rapid Situational Assessment of People Who Inject Drug (PWIDs) applying Respondent Driven sampling techniques (RDS) was used to recruit subjects/participants in a study aimed at assessing HIV prevalence and risk behaviors among injecting drug users in Nairobi and Coastal regions of Kenya. There is paucity of data and information on injecting drug use in sub-Saharan Africa and there is sufficient evidence of existence of the environment for development and growth of injecting drug use. Past studies on PWID and its association to HIV and AIDS that have been conducted in Kenya do not provide sufficient information to support effective planning and comprehensive national response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic.

Quantitative Assessment of Intracanal Regenerated Tissues after Regenerative Endodontic Procedures in Mature Teeth Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.

Introduction: The present study quantitatively assessed tissue regeneration after regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) with 2 different apical preparation sizes in mature teeth using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: Eighteen maxillary anterior mature necrotic teeth with periapical lesions were selected for the study. The teeth were randomly allocated into 2 groups.

[Central hemiparesis as manifestation of systemic vasculitis].

We present a case report of patient with systemic vasculitis with affection of heart, skin, gastrointestinal tract and rare involvement of central nervous system. Diagnosis of systemic vasculitis was based on clinical manifestations, blood hypereosinophilia and brain magnetic resonance imaging. Immunosuppressive therapy led to regression of symptoms including initially present neurologic manifestation.
