Treatment of Pathological Proximal Femur Fracture in a Child With a Unicameral Bone Cyst: A Case Report.

Pathological proximal femur fractures secondary to unicameral bone cysts in the pediatric age group are uncommon. Despite the development of modern surgical treatments and implant choices, it is still debatable what the gold standard of treatment is for a unicameral bone cyst with pathological proximal femur fractures. We report a case of an eight-year-old child with a unicameral bone cyst and pathological fracture of the proximal right femur who was surgically treated with curettage, synthetic bone graft, and a pediatric hip plate as the choice of implant for osteosynthesis and stability.

Case Report: Halting terminal osseous overgrowth post tibia amputation in children: a report of three cases.

Terminal osseous overgrowth is a common complication after trans-diaphyseal amputation in children, leading to pain, soft tissue problems, and recurrent surgical procedures. We report three different cases with post-amputation issues of osseous overgrowth, ulceration, and deformity over the amputation site. The first case involves a 9-year-old boy with a right leg congenital amputation secondary to amniotic band syndrome.

Surgical outcome of angular deformity correction of lower limbs in rickets: a cross-sectional study.

Purpose: This study aims to compare the functional and radiological outcomes following both guided growth surgery (GGS) and acute corrective osteotomy (ACO) correction of angular deformities in children with rickets.

Methods: A total of 8 and 7 children who had gradual GGS and ACO correction, respectively, for angular deformities due to rickets from 2002 to 2022 were recalled for follow-up. Demographic data, types of rickets, data on pharmacological treatment, biochemical parameters, recurrence of angular deformity and postoperative complications were obtained from the medical records.

Shoulder Septic Arthritis in a Child: A Diagnostic Dilemma.

Septic arthritis of the shoulder in pediatric patients should be diagnosed and treated urgently to prevent complications of the disease. However, early detection can be a challenge due to mild symptoms with ambiguous laboratory and radiological findings. We report a case of an eight-month-old girl who presented to us initially with pseudo paresis of her right shoulder without any signs suggestive of infection.

Office Three-Dimensional Printed Osteotomy Guide for Corrective Osteotomy in Fibrous Dysplasia.

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign condition but can lead to severe long-bone deformities. Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology is a rapidly developing field that has now been popularized to aid surgeons in preoperative planning. We report a case of hip deformity in a 21-year-old woman who suffered from fibrous dysplasia and underwent a corrective osteotomy.

Outcome of Open Reduction Alone or with Concomitant Bony Procedures for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH).

Introduction: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is commonly managed in a tertiary centre and regularly involves surgical treatment. The aim of this study is to determine the surgical outcome of DDH patient treated with either open reduction alone or combined with bony procedures in our institution. Methods: Medical records of DDH patients treated surgically were reviewed.

Angular Deformities of the Knee in Children Treated with Guided Growth.

Introduction: The guided growth technique is an alternative to corrective osteotomy for treating angular deformities of the extremities. It has the advantage of being minimally invasive and is effective in a growing child. This study reports on the outcome of guided growth technique using a plate in correcting knee angular deformities.

Congenital Constriction Band With Lymphedema in a Neonate: A 17-Year Follow-Up After Single Stage Excision and Z-Plasty.

Congenital constriction band syndrome is a rare condition that presents with constriction bands affecting different types of extremities. Timely surgical intervention for moderate and severe stages of this condition can be performed either in a single stage or multiple stages. We report the case of a neonate who presented with a congenital constriction band and had excision of the constriction band and z-plasty reconstruction.

Isolated Peroneus Longus Tear - Commonly Missed Diagnosis of Lateral Ankle Pain: A Case Report.

Peroneal tendon tear is a relatively common cause of lateral ankle pain but often missed due to mixed presentation or low index of suspicion. Left untreated, peroneal injuries can lead to persistent ankle pain, instability and ultimately substantial functional disabilities. An isolated peroneus longus tear is rare with the lowest incidence rate compared to isolated peroneus brevis tear and mixed tear of both peroneal tendon.
