Assessment of beach litter pollution in Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco: a study of macro and meso-litter on Mediterranean beaches.

We conducted surveys of Mediterranean beaches in Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia including 37 macro-litter (> 25 mm) and 41 meso-litter (5-25 mm) assessments. Our study identified key litter items and assessed pollution sources on urban, semi-urban, tourist, and semi-rural beaches. Macro-litter concentration averaged 5032 ± 4919 pieces per 100 m or 1.

Is Vitamin D Deficiency a Risk Factor for Osseointegration of Dental Implants - A Prospective Study.

Introduction: Early dental implant failure (EDIF) can occur even when optimal materials are used, surgical protocols are strictly followed and the quantity and quality of bone at the recipient site are sufficient. The existence of specific patient-related risk factors require an investigation into the regulatory mechanisms controlling bone metabolism, bone remodelling and bone turnover as well as serum Vitamin D. The implant stability quotient is used as a prognostic indicator for possible implant failure.

An abattoir study of the prevalence of foot lesions and claw measurements in water buffalo in Egypt.

Background: Lameness has been associated with compromised animal welfare and reduced productivity in dairy cattle herds worldwide. However, little is known about the prevalence of claw lesions in the dairy buffalo population in Egypt. Furthermore, the optimum measurements for claw trimming in buffalo are unknown.

Evaluating the Feasibility of Pro-Neurotensin and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 as Possible Indicators for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Its Complications.

(1) Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic syndrome are associated with decreased vitamin D. In contrast, high pro-neurotensin (pro-NT) levels are linked with an increased risk of T2DM and cardiovascular disease. We aimed to determine the validity of pro-NT and 25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 levels as predictors for T2DM complications; (2) Methods: One hundred T2DM, and one hundred healthy volunteers participated in this case-control study.

General two-parameter distribution: Statistical properties, estimation, and application on COVID-19.

In this paper, we introduced a novel general two-parameter statistical distribution which can be presented as a mix of both exponential and gamma distributions. Some statistical properties of the general model were derived mathematically. Many estimation methods studied the estimation of the proposed model parameters.

Ultrasound, Dacryocystorhinography and Morphological Examination of Normal Eye and Lacrimal Apparatus of the Donkey ().

The study investigated normal macromorphological and ultrasonographic features of the eye and lacrimal gland, as well as normal dacryocystorhinography of the donkey () in Egypt. A total of 36 donkeys of different ages, weights, and sexes were included in the study: 21 live animals for ultrasonography and dacryocystorhinography, and 15 cadaver skulls for morphological anatomy of the lacrimal apparatus. The ultrasound biometric values of the eye were 33.

Some new findings on the survival Rényi entropy and application of COVID-19 data.

Motivated by the connotation of survival Rényi entropy and its related dynamic version, we introduce them in terms of their lower bounds and mean residual life function. Moreover, we illustrate the relation between survival Rényi entropy and some of measures of information. Furthermore, the hazard rate order implies ordering of dynamic survival Rényi entropy.

Decision-Making for the Lifetime Performance Index.

The purpose of this research is to develop a maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) for lifetime performance index for the parameter of mixture Rayleigh-Half Normal distribution (RHN) under progressively type-II right-censored samples under the constraint of knowing the lower specification limit (). Additionally, we suggest an asymptotic normal distribution for the MLE for in order to construct a mechanism for evaluating products' lifespan efficiency. We have specified all the steps to carry out the test.

Corrosion Inhibition of Carbon Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution Using Ethoxylated Nonionic Surfactants Based on Schiff Base: Electrochemical and Computational Investigations.

Two ethoxylated nonionic surfactants (L400 and L600) based on Schiff base are prepared from polyoxyethylene, glyoxalic acid, and phenylenediamine. They are evaluated electrochemically as carbon steel corrosion inhibitors in 1 M HCl by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Tafel techniques and complemented with microscopic analysis methods. The obtained Tafel data indicate the mixed-type behavior of the inhibitor used.

Relation of infarction location and volume to vertigo in vertebrobasilar stroke.

Objective: Vertigo is a common presentation of vertebrobasilar stroke. Anecdotal reports have shown that vertigo occurs more often in multiple than in single brainstem or cerebellar infarctions. We examined the relation between the location and volume of infarction and vertigo in patients with vertebrobasilar stroke.

Rayleigh-half normal distribution for modeling tooth movement data.

Clear aligners provide a recent technique to induce orthodontic tooth movement. In this paper, a new one-parameter model, called, Rayleigh-Half Normal distribution (RHN) is proposed for modeling tooth movement data. Various statistical and reliability properties including moments and its associated measures, mean residual life, survival and hazard functions are derived and studied.

Near-infrared light-triggered drug delivery system based on black phosphorus for in vivo bone regeneration.

A near-infrared (NIR) light-triggered drug delivery platform is produced by incorporating SrCl and BP nanosheets (BPs) into poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) for bone regeneration. The fabricated BP-SrCl/PLGA microspheres show efficient NIR absorption and photothermal effects due to the BPs. The NIR-triggered release behavior of Sr by flawing the PLGA shells is investigated and the microspheres exhibit excellent cell viability and biodegradability.

Superior bone-inducing potential of rhBMP9 compared to rhBMP2.

Recombinant human bone morphogenic protein (rhBMP) 9 has recently been reported to have more osteopromotive potential in vitro when compared to rhBMP2. The aim of the present study was to investigate the bone-inducing potential of rhBMP2 and rhBMP9. We compared rhBMP2, rhBMP7, and rhBMP9 at five different concentrations and showed convincingly that rhBMP9 possesses much greater potential for osteoblast differentiation even at 20 times lower concentrations in vitro.

Injectable-platelet rich fibrin using the low speed centrifugation concept improves cartilage regeneration when compared to platelet-rich plasma.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) on cultivated chondrocytes and osteochondral regeneration in critical-sized osteochondral defect of the rabbit's knee in comparison to autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Chondrocytes were first investigated for their ability to proliferate and differentiate in response to PRP and i-PRF. Thereafter, full-thickness critical-sized osteochondral defects 5 mm in diameter and 5 mm in depth were created in the knee joint of 12 adult female New Zealand White rabbits.

A comparative study between ciliary count and the degree of opacity of paranasal sinus CT scans in chronic sinusitis pre and post FESS.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the extent of sinus disease in chronic sinusitis as detected radiologically by computed tomography (CT) scan and the population of cilia (ciliary area) both before and after functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). In a simple way this is a trial to statistically prove that the CT scan could be a valid indicator and a mirror of the histological status of the sinus mucosa.

Design: Twenty adult patients were enrolled in this study.
