Purpose: To report outcomes of a conjoined tendon transfer procedure in a small case series of young active patients of various activity levels with recurrent traumatic anterior shoulder instability.
Methods: A retrospective chart review identified 10 consecutive patients who underwent conjoined tendon transfer (8 open and 2 arthroscopic) for anterior glenohumeral instability from January 2009 through December 2012. The indications were traumatic anterior shoulder instability with 25% or greater anterior glenoid bone loss, engaging Hill-Sachs lesion, or absent anterior-inferior labral tissue with anterior capsular tissue that did not readily hold sutures or a combination of these deficiencies.
Given the high rates of wound complications with a standard lateral extensile incision, small dual incision techniques might result in less soft tissue destruction. The goal of the present study was to compare the biomechanical performance between a single locking plate and a dual locking plating system for an intra-articular calcaneal fracture model. A Sanders IIB type joint depression calcaneal fracture was created in 10 paired, fresh-frozen, cadaveric calcanei (age 47 ± 12, range 35 to 78 years).

Background: Inhaled endotoxin is a risk factor for asthma exacerbation, and endotoxin inhalation by itself recapitulates many of the classical features of asthma in mice, including reversible airflow obstruction and inflammation, airways hyperresponsiveness, and airway remodeling.
Objective: Our objective was to determine the importance of LPS binding protein (LBP) in the response to inhaled LPS.
Methods: We challenged LBP-deficient mice (C57BL/6(LBP-/-)) and C57BL/6 mice with inhaled endotoxin for 4 hours, 5 days, or 4 weeks, followed by 3 days of recovery.
