Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) parameter extraction is an important issue in modeling and control of renewable energies. The PEMFC problem's main objective is to estimate the optimal value of unknown parameters of the electrochemical model. The main objective function of the optimization problem is the sum of the square errors between the measured voltages and output voltages of the proposed electrochemical optimized model at various loading conditions.

Background: To optimize irrigation water use and productivity, understanding the interactions between plants, irrigation techniques, and fertilization practices is crucial. Therefore, the experiment aims to assess the effectiveness of two application methods of potassium humate combined with chelated zinc under partial root-zone drip irrigation techniques on maize nutrient uptake, yield, and irrigation water use efficiency across two irrigation levels.

Methods: Open-field experiments were carried out in two summer seasons of 2021 and 2022 under alternate and fixed partial root-zone drip irrigation techniques to investigate their impacts at two irrigation levels and applied foliar and soil applications of potassium humate or chelated zinc in a sole and combinations on maize.

This article presents a novel approach for parameters estimation of photovoltaic cells/modules using a recent optimization algorithm called quadratic interpolation optimization algorithm (QIOA). The proposed formula is dependent on variable voltage resistances (VVR) implementation of the series and shunt resistances. The variable resistances reduced from the effect of the electric field on the semiconductor conductivity should be included to get more accurate representation.

Yoga has been increasingly practiced in recent years, with many of its practitioners being female. Adults may seek a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modality, such as yoga, to attempt to alleviate symptoms related to mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our goal for this systematic review was to collect and analyze all available data from quantitative and qualitative reports of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted over the past 10 years on the impact of yoga on women diagnosed with PTSD.

  • - Congenital torticollis is when a newborn's neck tilts abnormally, often due to issues with the sternocleidomastoid muscle, leading the chin to point away from the affected side.
  • - Other causes of congenital torticollis can include cervical vertebrae anomalies, syndromes, and ocular defects, which require thorough diagnostic imaging to identify.
  • - Misdiagnosis is common, as illustrated by a case where a child treated for congenital muscular torticollis for a year actually had cervical vertebrae malformations, highlighting potential financial and psychosocial impacts.

  • - Neuropeptide CGRP plays a crucial role in migraines, and CGRP monoclonal antibodies (erenumab, galcanezumab, fremanezumab, and eptinezumab) are FDA-approved medications that have shown promising results in migraine prevention.
  • - A systematic review was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of these CGRP antibodies, revealing them to be effective and safe, possibly serving as a first-line treatment for migraines.
  • - The study suggests that combining CGRP antibodies with onabotulinumtoxinA may further enhance migraine prevention and highlights the need for more research to explore individual patient characteristics that affect treatment outcomes.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, with the majority consisting of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Genetic mutations present an opportunity for targeted therapy, in addition to current mainstay treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Overall, 5% of NSCLCs have an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutation, often prevalent in a younger population.

  • A significant number of kids are impacted by allergy diseases, prompting concerns about public health globally.
  • The study aims to explore whether a mother's diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding affects the likelihood of children developing allergies, particularly food allergies and eczema.
  • By reviewing literature from 2019 to 2022, the researchers seek to identify dietary factors that may help prevent allergies, aiming to improve health outcomes for allergic children and their families.

  • Immune checkpoint inhibitors, especially PD-1 and PD-L1 inhibitors, have transformed cancer treatment by using the immune system to fight tumors.
  • PD-L1 is a protein that suppresses the immune response when it interacts with PD-1 receptors on T-cells, leading to increased cancer cell survival.
  • Clinical trials show that PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors are effective against various advanced cancers, but challenges like resistance and side effects require ongoing research and combination therapies for better outcomes.

Being one of the most prevalent progressive neurodegenerative disorders (falling second only to Alzheimer's disease) with a clinical pattern affecting millions of lives all over the world, Parkinson's disease (PD) has never failed to attract a formidable interest from the vast majority of neurologists and researchers worldwide. This review article will analyze the pathophysiology, etiology, genetics, and pathological stages of Parkinson's disease with their corresponding clinical sequels. A review article was conducted using research databases including PubMed, PubMed Central, Springer, and Elsevier.

  • * The systematic review analyzed 19 studies, including randomized trials and observational data, to assess how SGLT2 inhibitors might reduce heart-related issues like heart attacks and strokes.
  • * While the findings suggest that SGLT2 inhibitors could significantly lower cardiovascular risks, the study had limitations, such as excluding older research and being restricted to English-language articles.

  • The exact cause of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is unclear, but both environmental and genetic factors are believed to play a role, with exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) showing promise for Crohn's disease but not yet being a first-line treatment.
  • Dietary modifications, particularly increasing anti-inflammatory foods and reducing foods high in inflammatory compounds, have been linked to improvements in patients with ulcerative colitis in remission.
  • Various diet alternatives have been explored in IBD treatment, with no significant differences between EEN and partial enteral nutrition, while strict diets like the specific carbohydrate diet (SCD) and Mediterranean diet (MD) show positive outcomes, highlighting the need for further research on effective dietary interventions.

Upper Egypt experiences high temperatures during summer and low temperatures during winter, which significantly impacts the sowing dates of maize in this region. The productivity of maize crops and water use efficiency can be greatly affected by water stress and sowing dates (SDs). Therefore, it is crucial to determine the optimal irrigation level and SDs based on local conditions.

Background: Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are the most common infections found in healthcare facilities. Urinary catheters predispose the development of CAUTIs by destroying natural barriers and providing a source for infection and biofilm formation (BF). This study aimed to evaluate probiotic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as a means of preventing in vitro urinary catheter colonization and BF.

Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis has recently been under the spotlight due to a better detection rate with advanced imaging techniques. Recurrent infections in such patients are the main cause of their deterioration. This invariably leads to a catastrophic wheel of decline in lung function, reinfection, and repeated hospital consultations.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common pathology in middle-aged patients and a regular consultation in the gastroenterology office. The prevalence is high in females with a ratio of 2:1, and due to its multifactorial etiology, it is difficult to address the symptomatology. On the other hand, fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic widespread pain syndrome also prevalent in the female population, characterized by systemic symptoms.

Warfarin has been an anticoagulant of choice in patients with advanced Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) at stages 4 and 5 for decades, but with the advent of Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs), there has been a sharp rise in their prescriptions. Among all NOACS, apixaban is the least reliant on kidney function and is a very popular choice for this patient population. However, being utilized extensively, most of the landmark trials evaluating the safety and efficacy of apixaban excluded patients with Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) <25mL/min/1.
