Purpose: To develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an asynchronously delivered app, InBloom, for postpartum depression (PPD) prevention relative to an evidence-based synchronously delivered in-person intervention, ROSE (Reach Out, Stay Strong, Essentials for mothers of newborns) for depression and return on investment via a prospective randomized controlled trial and quasi-experimental cohort analyses.

Background: PPD affects 1 in 7 gestational parents in the US, causing emotional distress, consequences for infant development and child adjustment, disruptions in family relationships, and financial burden. ROSE is an evidence-based intervention administered as four in-person group sessions plus one postpartum booster session.

This study investigates 3D extrusion bioinks for cartilage tissue engineering by characterizing the physical properties of 3D-printed scaffolds containing varying alginate and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) concentrations. We systematically investigated the effects of increasing PVA and alginate concentrations on swelling, degradation, and the elastic modulus of printed hydrogels. Swelling decreased significantly with increased PVA concentrations, while degradation rates rose with higher PVA concentrations, underscoring the role of PVA in modulating hydrogel matrix stability.

Background: Total talus replacement (TTR) implants are designed to replace the diseased talar anatomy, reduce pain, maintain ankle range of motion, and restore ankle function after conservative treatments have failed. Currently TTR implants are produced by 3D printing a patient-specific implant designed from the patient's preoperative anatomy. Background: The revolution of orthopedic implant manufacturing is being driven by 3D printing of titanium implants for large bony defects such as those caused by diabetic Charcot arthropathy. Unlike traditional subtractive manufacturing of orthopedic implants, 3D printing fuses titanium powder layer-by-layer, creating a unique surface roughness that could potentially enhance osseointegration. However, the metabolic impairments caused by diabetes, including negative alterations of bone metabolism, can lead to nonunion and decreased osseointegration with traditionally manufactured orthopedic implants.

Repetitive head hits (RHHs) in sports and military settings are increasingly recognized as a risk factor for adverse neurological outcomes, but they are not currently tracked. Blood-based biomarkers of concussion have recently been shown to increase after nonconcussive RHHs during a single sporting contest, raising the possibility that they could be used in real time to monitor the brain's early response to repeated asymptomatic head hits. Cartilage damage presents a significant clinical challenge due to its intrinsic avascular nature which limits self-repair. Background: The purpose of this study is to develop a simple and reproducible bending model that is compatible with a wide range of orthopaedic fixation devices and 3D printed spacers.

Methods: A robust 4-point bending model was constructed by securing sawbones blocks with different orthopaedic fixation device constructs. Stress strain curves derived from a fundamental mechanics model were used to assess the effect of bone density, type of hardware (staple vs intramedullary beam), the use of dynamic compression, orientation of staples (dorsal vs plantar), and the use of 3D printed titanium spacers.

Background: Despite unanimous recommendations from numerous specialty societies on regular colorectal cancer screening, a substantial proportion of eligible adults are non-adherent with screening.
