The study considered the impacts of asset intensity and other energy-associated emissions drivers in the Nigerian manufacturing sector from 2010 to 2020. The Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) was used to explore the driving factors of emissions: asset intensity, economic output, economic structure, energy intensity, energy mix, and carbon emission coefficient. From the results, the emissions decreased from 7.

The paper presents an advanced exergoenvironmental and thermo-sustainability analysis of a dry process, 5-million-ton capacity cement plant with real-time operational data. The analysis was based on component-wise modelling by separating the exergy destruction (ED) into endogenous, exogenous, avoidable and unavoidable parts for the two production lines, L1 and L2. The result shows an exergy efficiency ([Formula: see text]) of 55.

This research aimed to examine the need of adding hot water blanching pre-treatment on the drying of ginger rhizomes using a hybrid solar-dryer with paraffin liquid as thermal storage infused into a copper tube to form a compact heat exchanger. Blanching duration quickened the drying rate of the ginger rhizomes and the average drying rate for blanching at 90 s, 60 s, 30 s and un-blanched ginger varied between 0.0147 kg/h to 0.

Recent advances in nanotechnology sciences lead to the development of new treatment approaches for various diseases such as cancer. Nanotechnology advances can potentially minimize the side effects of drugs through the employment of effective and controlled drug delivery systems (DDSs). Polymers are optimal tools providing drug delivery mechanisms through the unique features of pharmacokinetics, circulation time, biocompatibility, and biodegradability.

Chemotherapy is the most common treatment strategy for cancer patients. Nevertheless, limited drug delivery to cancer cells, intolerable toxicity, and multiple drug resistance are constant challenges of chemotherapy. Novel targeted drug delivery strategies by using nanoparticles have attracted much attention due to reducing side effects and increasing drug efficacy.

Today, nanoscience has grown and developed in various fields of medicine and treatment, including cancer treatment. Currently, the existing treatments, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, cause side effects that are unpleasant to the patient. Due to the fact that anticancer drugs cause severe and widespread side effects, liposomes are considered as new drug carriers to minimize the untimely destruction of the drug when it is delivered to the target tissue and to prevent the side effects of toxic drugs.

Background: Dexmedetomidine, an α2 agonist, has well-known anesthetic and analgesic-sparing effects. We designed this study to evaluate the effect of intraoperative dexmedetomidine infusion on intra operative blood loss and postoperative pain in functional endoscopic sinus surgery.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included 90 patients planning to undergo endoscopic sinus surgery, who were randomly divided into three groups.

The aim of this study is to present a new hybrid solar-biomass dryer and carry out thermal analysis based on energy and exergo-sustainability analysis considering all the available exergy stream of solar radiation, air stream through the collector, and exergy of the moisture in the product. The research also presented the environmental impact and economic analysis of using the dryer. Performance evaluations show that at collector efficiency of 20.

Vitamin D and calcium deficiency have been reported as one of the causes of preeclampsia. In this study, levels of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus were evaluated in 51 normotensive pregnant women and 52 women with preeclampsia at the gestational age between 28 and 36 weeks in Tabriz. Logistic regression and general linear models were used for comparing levels and means of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus between the two groups adjusting for education and Body Mass Index (BMI).
