Characterizing the size, structure, and composition of nanoparticles is vital in predicting and understanding their macroscopic properties. In this work, charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) was used to analyze nanocapsules (∼10-200 MDa) consisting of a liquid oleic acid core surrounded by a dense silica outer shell. CDMS is an emerging method for nanoparticle analysis that can rapidly measure the mass and charge of thousands of individual nanoparticles.

In this study, we investigated the aggregation-induced delayed fluorescence (AIDF) properties of three luminogens - TN, TA, and TP. Our comprehensive theoretical analysis reveals a significant reduction in the Δ in their aggregated or solid-state, activating TADF, on a ∼μs time-scale. Additionally, these luminogens demonstrate two-photon excited anti-Stokes photoluminescence emission and improved photocurrent generation, attributed to their strong charge transfer characteristics and longer singlet exciton lifetimes.

Background: Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death globally for people aged 5-29 years, with 90% of mortality occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The STABLE (Slashing Two-wheeled Accidents by Leveraging Eyecare) trial was designed to determine whether providing spectacles could reduce risk among young myopic motorcycle users in Vietnam.

Active saltwater intrusion (ASWI) accelerates and intensifies salinization due to buoyancy force-induced density differences and concurrent inland fresh groundwater flow. This study investigates saline groundwater (SGW) pumping as a remediation technique for ASWI through experimental and field-scale analyses in a layered aquifer system characterised by diminishing permeability with depth. Experiments demonstrated that higher permeability layers reduced length of intrusion (Ltoe) whereas lower permeability layers restricted vertical displacement.

Motivation: Genomic signal processing (GSP), which transforms biomolecular sequences into discrete signals for spectral analysis, has provided valuable insights into DNA sequence, structure, and evolution. However, challenges persist with spectral representations of variable-length sequences for tasks like species classification and in interpreting these spectra to identify discriminative DNA regions.

Results: We introduce SpecGMM, a novel framework that integrates sliding window-based Spectral analysis with a Gaussian Mixture Model to transform variable-length DNA sequences into fixed-dimensional spectral representations for taxonomic classification.
