A phase II study of buparlisib in relapsed or refractory thymomas.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of buparlisib, an oral pan-PI3K inhibitor, in relapsed or refractory thymomas.

Methods: This was a single center, single arm, open label phase II trial of buparlisib in patients with recurrent thymoma who have progressed after at least one prior line of treatment. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (complete response [CR] + partial response [PR]).

Sunitinib in patients with chemotherapy-refractory thymoma and thymic carcinoma: an open-label phase 2 trial.

Background: No standard treatments are available for advanced thymic epithelial tumours after failure of platinum-based chemotherapy. We investigated the activity of sunitinib, an orally administered tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

Methods: Between May 15, 2012, and Oct 2, 2013, we did an open-label phase 2 trial in patients with histologically confirmed chemotherapy-refractory thymic epithelial tumours.
