Data regarding cardiogenic shock (CS) from safety-net hospitals serving socioeconomically-disadvantaged patients are limited. In addition, little is known regarding long-term outcomes and management of heart failure-related CS (HF-CS), a population potentially especially vulnerable to adverse social determinants of health (SDOH). A single-center retrospective cohort study of patients with Stage C, D, or E CS at a public safety-net hospital between 2017-2023 was performed.

Fill rates improve with an onsite outpatient pharmacy (OOP). We aimed to increase the percent of PED discharge prescriptions sent to the OOP during open hours from 8.

Structural and psychosocial barriers to following up with colposcopy are problematic for minoritized women. Evidence-based interventions using patient navigation and tailored telephone counseling, including the Tailored Communication for Cervical Cancer Risk (TC3), have modestly improved colposcopy attendance.

Design: Observational study; longitudinal analysis of registry data.
Setting: Hospitals in the USA reporting to the American Heart Association (AHA) COVID-19 Registry from January 2020 to May 2021.
Introduction: The New Jersey Kids Study (NJKS) is a transdisciplinary statewide initiative to understand influences on child health, development, and disease. We conducted a mixed-methods study of project planning teams to investigate team effectiveness and relationships between team dynamics and quality of deliverables.
Methods: Ten theme-based working groups (WGs) (e.
Background: Previous studies have linked cardiovascular risk factors during midlife to cognitive function in later life. However, few studies have looked at the association between cardiac function, brain structure, and cognitive function and even less have included diverse middle-aged populations.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine associations between cardiac and brain structure and function in a multiethnic cohort of middle-aged adults.
Background: High-sensitivity troponin I (hs-cTnI) and T (hs-cTnT) provide complementary information regarding cardiovascular disease risk. The explanation for their distinct risk profiles is incompletely understood.
Methods And Results: hs-cTnI and hs-cTnT were measured in Dallas Heart Study participants.
Objective: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) containing integrase inhibitors (INSTIs) and/or tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) has been associated with greater weight gain. Yet few studies have delineated between exposure to 'anchor' drugs [protease inhibitors (PI), nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI) or INSTIs] and exposure to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).
Design: In this cohort of antiretroviral drug-naive patients who initiated ART from 2008-2022, we analyzed BMI gain for eight contemporary 'anchor' drugs and three contemporary NRTIs during the first 3 years of ART.
Background: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is commonly characterized by its cholesterol concentration (HDL-C) and inverse association with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the association of HDL particle concentration (HDL-P), HDL particle size (HDL-size), HDL-C, and cholesterol content per particle (HDL-C/HDL-P) with risk of overall heart failure (HF) and subtypes.
Methods: Participants from the Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities Study, Dallas Heart Study, Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, and Prevention of Renal and Vascular End-stage Disease studies without HF history were included.
Objective: Aspirin has been used for primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) for decades, but this indication has become controversial with recent trial data. The 2022 US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) provided a recommendation to consider aspirin use for primary prevention in adults 40-59 years with a 10-year ASCVD risk ≥10 % and not at increased risk of bleeding, yet population estimates for the impact of this recommendation are unknown. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence and demographics of the US population who meet eligibility criteria for aspirin under the new 2022 USPSTF guidelines.

Methods: We performed a case-control study of 361 participants of the Dallas Heart Study, including 88 participants with an incident atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) event and 273 controls matched for age, sex, and body mass index without an ASCVD event during 12 years of follow-up (January 1, 2000, through December 31, 2015). Plasma levels of TMAO, choline, carnitine, betaine, and butyrobetaine were measured by mass spectrometry.
Hoarding Disorder (HD) is a prominent and disabling neuropsychiatric condition defined by the inability to discard objects resulting in impairing levels of clutter. The prevalence rate is 2-6 % and increases with age. The aging Veteran population is a high risk group for impairment associated with HD.

Liraglutide reduces total body weight and visceral fat but its effect on muscle fat and adverse muscle composition is unknown.
Methods: This is a pre-specified secondary analysis of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that examined the effects of liraglutide plus a lifestyle intervention on visceral adipose tissue and ectopic fat among adults without diabetes with body mass index ≥30 kg/m or ≥27 kg/m and metabolic syndrome.
Background And Objective: Inadequate postintubation sedation (PIS) can lead to unplanned extubations, conscious paralysis, and overall unsafe care of patients. From 2018 to 2020, we realized at our hospital that ∼25% of children received sedation in an adequate time frame in the pediatric emergency department, with 2 unplanned dislodgements of the endotracheal tube. Our objective was to reduce time to initiating PIS from a mean of 39 minutes to less than 15 minutes in our pediatric emergency department by September 2021.

For example, studies show that lower-SES youth are less active, have lower participation in organized sports and physical education classes, and have more limited access to PA equipment.
Objective: To determine the potential public health and economic effects of eliminating disparities in PA levels among US youth SES groups.
Purpose/objectives: Research has documented the implementation of telecommunications and virtual technology use in health care disciplines to expand accessibility. Despite the current trend of digital innovations in healthcare systems, telehealth technology is not readily adopted in the dental hygiene profession yet. Currently, no standardized educational framework exists in dental hygiene curricula to prepare professionals with the technical skill set and professional knowledge necessary for telehealth applications.

Teleburn is a tool that enables providers without a certified burn center to provide photos of a burn to experts and receive recommendations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a Teleburn system to the in-person consultation regarding burn infection rate, clinic follow-up rate, postburn admission rate, and 72-h bounce back rate.

The objective of this study was to examine the experiences reported by individuals with a relative with elevated hoarding symptoms using a cross-sectional design. The current investigation expands on the literature in this area by incorporating a detailed interview of experiences in conjunction with validated measures of hoarding symptomology.

Yoga has been shown to reduce both chronic pain and PTSD symptoms in clinical trials. The goal of our study was to assess the feasibility and acceptability of conducting a randomized controlled trial (RCT) that combined yoga and mantram repetition (Yoga + MR) into one program for military veterans with both chronic pain and PTSD.

Abstract: A 6-year-old male presented with a seizure-like episode.
Background High-density lipoprotein (HDL) particle concentration likely outperforms HDL cholesterol in predicting atherosclerotic cardiovascular events. Whether size-based HDL subspecies explain the atheroprotective associations of HDL particle concentration remains unknown. Our objective was to assess whether levels of specific size-based HDL subspecies associate with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in a multiethnic pooled cohort and improve risk prediction beyond traditional atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk factors.
