[Diagnostic possibilities of precordial electrocardiographic mapping in the assessment of the results of dipyridamole test in patients with ischemic heart disease].

The dynamics of cross-sectional, isochronic, and integral maps of electric potential distribution during the dipyridamole test was examined in 35 patients with verified coronary heart disease and 12 control patients. Basic differences were found in changes of excitation propagation velocities and positive potential amplitude in the groups examined. A local increase in R wave areas on the maps of positive potential differences was found to be the most significant mapping sign of transient myocardial ischemia (the sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy being more than 97%).

[Effects of an epiphyseal peptide preparation epithalamin on serotonin metabolism in the pineal gland of rats].

5-day morning injections to pubertal male rats of polypeptide epithalamin preparation obtained from cattle epiphysis, in dose of 0.25 mg/100 g body mass induced the increase of serotonin epiphyseal concentration night peak, N-acetylserotonin and melatonin and didn't produce any essential influence on 5-methoxytryptamine, 5-oxy- and 5-methoxyindoleacetic acid level. It has been concluded, that epiphyseal peptides and indoles interact according to ultrashort connection, epiphyseal peptides point of application is the reaction of tryptophan transformation into serotonin and its further metabolism in N-acetylserotonin and melatonin.

[Value of oil angiography of the kidneys in obtaining long-term contrast visualization of kidney tumors].

Angiographic examinations with oil roentgenopaque drug iodolipol were performed in 151 patients with tumors of the kidneys. Selective accumulation of iodolipol in the zones of malignization was revealed. No complications resulting from the administration of the drug were observed.

[The inhibitory effect of the synthetic leu-enkephalin analog dalargin on carcinogenesis].

[Chromosomal damage in peripheral blood lymphocytes of rats in nitrosomethylurea-induced carcinogenesis].

Chromosomal damages and their dynamics in blood lymphocytes of mongrel white L10 rats treated (once) intravenously with nitrosomethyl urea (NMU) at a dose of 50 mg/kg have been analyzed. A direct correlation is revealed between carcinogenesis, chromosome aberration level in somatic cells, polyploid and hyperaneuploid cell frequency 24 hs after the NMU treatment and in the precancerous period. An increase of hyperaneuploid and polyploid cells in the organism can serve as a prognostic factor of carcinogenesis.

[Prolonged contrast of kidney tumors using an oily x-ray contrast medium].

In 194 patients with tumourous kidney disease an angiographic investigation with the oily x-ray contrast medium Iodolipol was carried out. A selective tropism of oily-x-ray contrast media was found that was only retained in zones of malignant disease. The application of the preparation caused no complications.

[Various elements of the surgical technic of microsurgical anastomoses in relation to the characteristics of the structure of the walls of small arteries].

The author describes specific features of the artery wall structure appearing with the decreasing caliber of the vessel. Special grounds for certain elements of the operative technique in the surgery of microvessels are given on the basis of the assessment of results of 300 microanastomoses in experiment and 500 microvascular anastomoses made in the clinic. It was found that the performance of correct anastomoses can be controlled more reliably when using the method of a step-by-step connection beginning from the most remote wall.

5-Bromodeoxyuridine-induced carcinogenesis and its modification by persistent estrus syndrome, unilateral nephrectomy, and X-irradiation in rats.

[The carcinogenic effect of 5-bromodeoxyuridine and its amplification by x-rays in rats].

5-bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR) injected to rats in the neonatal period is shown to produce a pronounced carcinogenic effect which brings about the appearance of various benign and malignant tumours. Exposure of females to X-ray total-body irradiation (1.5 Gy) was followed by intensification of the carcinogenic effect of BUdR.

Dependence of susceptibility to carcinogenesis on species life span.

The data presented show no direct correlation between spontaneous tumor incidence and (a) the life span of species, (b) the life span of different strains or stocks of the same species, and (c) the life span of certain populations of the same strain or stock. This conclusion is in conflict with the concept suggesting a summation effect of the events that cause malignant growth irrespective of aging per se, in the age-related increase in cancer incidence, and indicates an important role of age-related changes occurring in the organism in the realization of carcinogenic effect of endogenous and/or exogenous factors.
