Solar energy conversion requires the working compositions to generate photoinduced charges with high potential and the ability to deliver charges to the catalytic sites and/or external electrode. These two properties are typically at odds with each other and call for new molecular materials with sufficient conjugation to improve charge conductivity but not as much conjugation as to overly compromise the optical band gap. In this work, we developed a semiconducting metal-organic framework (MOF) prepared explicitly through metal-carbodithioate "(-CS)M" linkage chemistry, entailing augmented metal-linker electronic communication.

However, cross-talk between ER-α, other hormone and growth factor receptors enables development of de novo resistance to tamoxifen. Herein, we mechanistically dissect the activity of a new class of anti-cancer agents that inhibit multiple growth factor receptors and down-stream signaling for the treatment of ER-positive BC.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation into the Effect of Water Uptake on the Capacitance of an Organic Coating.

Water uptake by organic coating systems used for corrosion prevention on airframes is one of the principal contributors to the loss of barrier properties of the coating. We used equivalent circuit analyses of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data to track changes in coating layer capacitance for a two-layer coating system consisting of an epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat immersed in NaCl solutions with different concentrations and temperatures. The capacitance curve exhibited two different response regions, consistent with the "two-stage kinetics" mechanisms for water uptake by the polymers.

Background: Vancomycin is a commonly used antibiotic for the treatment of methicillin-resistant s (MRSA), which requires therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). Guidelines recommend targeting an individualized area under the curve/minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC/MIC) ratio of 400 to 600 mg × h/L to maximize efficacy and minimize the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI). Before these guidelines, the accepted method of vancomycin TDM was using trough levels alone.

The primary aim of this work is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of DS triage after co-testing findings of positive non-16/18 HPV types and atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions cytology. A payer-perspective Markov microsimulation model was developed to assess the impact of DS reflex testing.

Background: Triple negative BCa (TNBC) is defined by a lack of expression of estrogen (ERα), progesterone (PgR) receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) as assessed by protein expression and/or gene amplification. It makes up ~ 15% of all BCa and often has a poor prognosis. TNBC is not treated with endocrine therapies as ERα and PR negative tumors in general do not show benefit.

Breaking through social determinants of health: Results from a feasibility study of Imani Breakthrough, a community developed substance use intervention for Black and Latinx people.

Racial and ethnic disparities in substance use intervention design, implementation, and dissemination have been recognized for years, yet few intervention programs have been designed and conducted by and for people who use substances. Imani Breakthrough is a two-phase 22-week intervention developed by the community, run by facilitators with lived experience and church members, that is implemented in Black and Latinx church settings. This community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach is a concept developed in response to a call for action from the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) with funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to address rising rates of death due to opioid overdose, and other negative consequences of substance misuse.

Background & Aims: To describe the process of credentialing and implementing dietitian insertion of nasogastric tubes (NGTs) in a regional setting in Australia, and report on patient outcomes, timeliness and safety of insertion, and staff acceptance.

Methods: An observational, mixed-methods study of service and patient outcomes was undertaken during the 2 years (2018-2020) following the implementation of dietitian credentialling for the insertion and management of NGTs. Data relating to the insertion of NGTs by credentialled dietitians were collected prospectively.
