Background: Experiences of household food insecurity are associated with a wide range of deleterious nutritional, developmental, psychological and social consequences for children. Children's distinct experiences of food insecurity, compared to adults, have been identified in diverse economic and cultural contexts. Yet historically, measurement of food insecurity in children has been predominantly reported by adult respondents on behalf of children, potentially underestimating prevalence and neglecting their unique perspectives.

Background: Fulminant eosinophilic myocarditis (EM) is a rare and often fatal condition that may present atypically and be complicated by ventricular arrhythmias. Treatment involves high-dose corticosteroids to suppress eosinophilia, as well as increasing use of mepolizumab, an anti-interleukin-5 antibody with evidence for long-term efficacy and safety.

Case Summary: A 38-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with neck pain and fatigue, and after extensive investigation was diagnosed with EM secondary to idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome.

Recombination of short DNA fragments via horizontal gene transfer (HGT) can introduce beneficial alleles, create genomic disharmony through negative epistasis, and create adaptive gene combinations through positive epistasis. For non-core (accessory) genes, the negative epistatic cost is likely to be minimal because the incoming genes have not co-evolved with the recipient genome and are frequently observed as tightly linked cassettes with major effects. By contrast, interspecific recombination in the core genome is expected to be rare because disruptive allelic replacement is likely to introduce negative epistasis.

White adipocytes function as major energy reservoirs in humans by storing substantial amounts of triglycerides, and their dysfunction is associated with metabolic disorders; however, the mechanisms underlying cellular specialization during adipogenesis remain unknown. Here, we generate a spatiotemporal proteomic atlas of human adipogenesis, which elucidates cellular remodelling as well as the spatial reorganization of metabolic pathways to optimize cells for lipid accumulation and highlights the coordinated regulation of protein localization and abundance during adipocyte formation. We identify compartment-specific regulation of protein levels and localization changes of metabolic enzymes to reprogramme branched-chain amino acids and one-carbon metabolism to provide building blocks and reduction equivalents.

The first example of a [2]rotaxane shuttle capable of selective optical sensing of chloride anions over other halides is reported. The rotaxane was synthesised via a chloride ion template-directed cyclisation of an isophthalamide macrocycle around a multi-station axle containing peripheral naphthalene diimide (NDI) stations and a halogen bonding (XB) bis(iodotriazole) based station. Proton NMR studies indicate the macrocycle resides preferentially at the NDI stations in the free rotaxane, where it is stabilised by aromatic donor-acceptor charge transfer interactions between the axle NDI and macrocycle hydroquinone moieties.

Background: Suboptimal coronary reperfusion (no reflow) is common in acute coronary syndrome percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and is associated with poor outcomes. We aimed to develop and externally validate a clinical risk score for angiographic no reflow for use following angiography and before PCI.
