Introduction: In case of pneumonia, some biological findings are suggestive for Legionnaire's disease (LD) including C-reactive protein (CRP). A low level of CRP is predictive for negative Legionella Urinary-Antigen-Test (L-UAT).

Method: Observational retrospective study in Nord-Franche-Comté Hospital with external validation in Besançon University Hospital, France which included all adults with L-UAT performed during January 2018 to December 2022.

Background: Escherichia coli is frequently responsible for bloodstream infections (BSIs). Among digestive BSIs, biliary infections appear to be less severe. Respective roles of host factors, bacterial determinants (phylogroups, virulence, and antibiotic resistance), and portal of entry on outcome are unknown.

Aqueously altered igneous rocks sampled on the floor of Jezero crater, Mars.

The Perseverance rover landed in Jezero crater, Mars, to investigate ancient lake and river deposits. We report observations of the crater floor, below the crater's sedimentary delta, finding that the floor consists of igneous rocks altered by water. The lowest exposed unit, informally named Séítah, is a coarsely crystalline olivine-rich rock, which accumulated at the base of a magma body.

Outbreak of an Uncommon Rifampin-resistant blaNDM-1Citrobacter amalonaticus Strain in a Digestive Rehabilitation Center: The Putative Role of Rifaximin.

We describe a sudden 2-week outbreak due to a blaNDM-1Citrobacter amalonaticus strain in a 22-bed digestive rehabilitation center. Three of the 5 colonized patients received long-term rifaximin treatment to prevent hepatic encephalopathy. The strains were genotypically identical, phenotypically resistant to rifampin, and harbored arr-3, a rifampin adenosine diphosphate-ribosyl transferase.

Direct inhibition of smooth muscle myosin (SMM) is a potential means to treat hypercontractile smooth muscle diseases. The selective inhibitor CK-2018571 prevents strong binding to actin and promotes muscle relaxation in vitro and in vivo. Perception of complex sounds in autism: abnormal auditory cortical processing in children.

Objective: The authors have previously described less activation of left speech-related temporal areas in adults with autism when listening to speech-like sounds than in normal adults. Here, they investigated whether this abnormal cortical processing was also present in children with primary autism.

Method: Regional cerebral blood flow was measured with positron emission tomography after premedication in 11 autistic children and six nonautistic mentally retarded children during rest and while they were listening to speech-like sounds.

Besides its precision and its reliability, perimetry can be used in data processing management due to the characteristic of easy duplication of the examinations. We use a micro-computer which is seperate from the Octopus 2000 R (Apple IIc) and the disc (OmnisII) to process the files.
