Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a group of diseases with joint limitations at two or more distinct joint levels at birth. Joint limitations are not progressive, but the functional consequences have a lifelong impact on patients. In this article we will present the results of our study aimed at evaluating the correlation between muscle fat infiltration on MRI and activity deficiencies and limitations in children with AMC.

Mapping the race between crop phenology and climate risks for wheat in France under climate change.

Climate change threatens food security by affecting the productivity of major cereal crops. To date, agroclimatic risk projections through indicators have focused on expected hazards exposure during the crop's current vulnerable seasons, without considering the non-stationarity of their phenology under evolving climatic conditions. We propose a new method for spatially classifying agroclimatic risks for wheat, combining high-resolution climatic data with a wheat's phenological model.

Influence of key histological characteristics on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose /18F-choline positron emission tomography positivity in hepatocellular carcinoma: A machine learning study.

Purpose: To determine the characteristics influence of key histological on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) and 18F-choline positron emission tomography (PET) positivity in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Materials And Methods: The 18F-FDG/18F-choline PET imaging findings of 103 histologically proven HCCs (from 62 patients, of which 47 underwent hepatectomy and 15 received liver transplantation) were retrospectively examined to assess the following key histological parameters: Grade, capsule, microvascular invasion (mVI), macrovascular invasion (MVI), and necrosis. Using a ratio of 70/30 for training and testing sets, respectively, a penalized classification model (Elastic Net) was trained using 100 repeated cross-validation procedures (10-fold cross-validation for hyperparameter optimization).

Cortical astrocytes develop in a plastic manner at both clonal and cellular levels.

Astrocytes play essential roles in the neural tissue where they form a continuous network, while displaying important local heterogeneity. Here, we performed multiclonal lineage tracing using combinatorial genetic markers together with a new large volume color imaging approach to study astrocyte development in the mouse cortex. We show that cortical astrocyte clones intermix with their neighbors and display extensive variability in terms of spatial organization, number and subtypes of cells generated.

The OptimaMed intervention to reduce inappropriate medications in nursing home residents with severe dementia: results from a quasi-experimental feasibility pilot study.

Background: Medication regimens in nursing home (NH) residents with severe dementia should be frequently reviewed to avoid inappropriate medication, overtreatment and adverse drug events, within a comfort care approach. This study aimed at testing the feasibility of an interdisciplinary knowledge exchange (KE) intervention using a medication review guidance tool categorizing medications as either "generally", "sometimes" or "exceptionally" appropriate for NH residents with severe dementia.

Methods: A quasi-experimental feasibility pilot study with 44 participating residents aged 65 years or over with severe dementia was carried out in three NH in Quebec City, Canada.

Purpose: The fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) technique, which easily detects reciprocal translocations, is currently used to estimate doses in retrospective biological dosimetry, after suspected accidental overexposure to ionizing radiation (IR). This study of 42 cases aimed to verify the appropriateness of this assay for radiation dose reconstruction, compared to the dicentric assay, and to evaluate other limitations.

Material And Methods: We labeled chromosomes 2, 4, and 12 by 3-color FISH painting to detect translocations on lymphocytes of patients with suspected past IR overexposure.

2017 publication guidelines for structural modelling of small-angle scattering data from biomolecules in solution: an update.

In 2012, preliminary guidelines were published addressing sample quality, data acquisition and reduction, presentation of scattering data and validation, and modelling for biomolecular small-angle scattering (SAS) experiments. Biomolecular SAS has since continued to grow and authors have increasingly adopted the preliminary guidelines. In parallel, integrative/hybrid determination of biomolecular structures is a rapidly growing field that is expanding the scope of structural biology.

[A "fast track" to improve management of neovascular age related macular degeneration].

Objective: To evaluate the role of a fast track for management of patients with neovascular age- related macular degeneration (nARMD) treated by intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF.

Patients: The records of 100 patients in the chronic maintenance phase of intravitreal anti-VEGF followed in the fast track and 63 patients followed in the standard protocol for at least 12 months were retrospectively analyzed.

Method: Patients in the fast track underwent visual acuity (VA) testing by ETDRS, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and a physician assessment.

The impact of moderate altitude on exercise metabolism in recreational sportsmen: a nuclear magnetic resonance metabolomic approach.

Although it is known that altitude impairs performance in endurance sports, there is no consensus on the involvement of energy substrates in this process. The objective of the present study was to determine whether the metabolomic pathways used during endurance exercise differ according to whether the effort is performed at sea level or at moderate altitude (at the same exercise intensity, using proton nuclear magnetic resonance, H NMR). Twenty subjects performed two 60-min endurance exercise tests at sea level and at 2150 m at identical relative intensity on a cycle ergometer.

Genome-wide association study identifies multiple risk loci for renal cell carcinoma.

Previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified six risk loci for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We conducted a meta-analysis of two new scans of 5,198 cases and 7,331 controls together with four existing scans, totalling 10,784 cases and 20,406 controls of European ancestry. Twenty-four loci were tested in an additional 3,182 cases and 6,301 controls.
