The objective of this study was to evaluate the coating integrity performance and corrosion protection property of trimethylsilane (TMS) plasma nanocoatings that were directly deposited onto cobalt chromium (CoCr) L605 cardiovascular stents. Hydrophilic surfaces were achieved for the TMS plasma nanocoatings that were deposited onto the coronary stents through NH/O (2:1 molar ratio) plasma post-treatment. With a coating thickness of approximately 20-25 nm, the TMS plasma nanocoatings were highly durable and able to resist delamination and cracking from crimping and expansion by a Model CX with a J-Crimp Station.

Background And Objectives: Prolonged compound muscle action potential (CMAP) duration and preferential loss of myosin are considered the diagnostic hallmarks of critical illness myopathy (CIM); however, their correlation and prognostic values have not been studied. We aimed to investigate the correlation between CMAP duration and myosin loss and their effect on mortality by comparing between patients with CIM with and without myosin loss.

Methods: We searched the Mayo Clinic Electromyography Laboratory databases (1986-2021) for patients diagnosed with CIM on the basis of prolonged distal CMAP durations (>15 msec in fibular motor nerve studies recording over the tibialis anterior or >8 msec in other motor nerves) and needle EMG findings compatible with myopathy.

Aims: In systemic light-chain (AL) amyloidosis, quantification of right ventricular (RV) amyloid burden has been limited and the pathogenesis of RV dysfunction is poorly understood. Using 18F-florbetapir positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), we aimed to quantify RV amyloid; correlate RV amyloid with RV structure and function; determine the independent contributions of RV, left ventricular (LV), and lung amyloid to RV function; and associate RV amyloid with major adverse cardiac events (MACE: death, heart failure hospitalization, cardiac transplantation).

To increase granularity in human neuroimaging science, we designed and built a next-generation 7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanner to reach ultra-high resolution by implementing several advances in hardware. To improve spatial encoding and increase the image signal-to-noise ratio, we developed a head-only asymmetric gradient coil (200 mT m, 900 T ms) with an additional third layer of windings. We integrated a 128-channel receiver system with 64- and 96-channel receiver coil arrays to boost signal in the cerebral cortex while reducing g-factor noise to enable higher accelerations.

In this study, using PM6:L8-BO as the main system and non-fullerene acceptor IDIC as the third component, a series of ternary organic solar cells (TOSCs) are fabricated. The results reveal that IDIC plays a significant role in enhancing the performance of TOSCs by optimizing the morphology of blended films and forming interpenetrating nanostructure. The improved film morphology facilitates exciton dissociation and collection in TOSCs, which causes an increase in the short-circuit current density (J ) and fill factor (FF).

Recent clinical successes have intensified interest in using adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors for therapeutic gene delivery. Nonfullerene acceptors (MQ3, MQ5, MQ6) are synthesized using asymmetric and symmetric ladder-type heteroheptacene cores with selenophene heterocycles. Although MQ3 and MQ5 are constructed with the same number of selenophene heterocycles, the heteroheptacene core of MQ5 is end-capped with selenophene rings while that of MQ3 is flanked with thiophene rings. With the enhanced noncovalent interaction of O⋅⋅⋅Se compared to that of O⋅⋅⋅S, MQ5 shows a bathochromically shifted absorption band and greatly improved carrier transport, leading to a higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.

In diluted solid solution using poly(2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or polystyrene (PS), both aggregated and extended conformations could be formed according to the weight ratio. Aggregated conformation in as-cast MEH-PPV/PMMA film presented a J-aggregate-like photoluminescence (PL) emission. After annealing at 160 °C, its PL showed characteristics of both J- and H-aggregates at the same time; however, extended conformation showed an oligomer-like emission, which was not sensitive to either measurement temperature or annealing temperature.

The nonlinear associations of serum perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) with hypertension and blood pressure have not been addressed. Cross-sectional data from 6967 adults (age ≥ 20 years) from the 2003-2012 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were analyzed. Hypertension was defined as an average systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg, an average diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg or self-reported use of prescribed medicine for diagnosed hypertension.
