The neural tube (NT) is a transient structure formed during embryogenesis which develops into the brain and spinal cord. While mouse models have been commonly used in place of human embryos to study NT development, species-specific differences limit their applicability. One major difference is developmental timing, with NT formation from the neural plate in 16 days in humans compared to 4 days in mice, as well as differences in the time taken to form neuronal subtypes and complete neurogenesis.

Therefore, this study aims to describe ECG parameters in BAV patients, and investigate their prognostic value.
Methods: In this single-center prospective study patients with BAV without a prior aortic valve replacement (AVR) were included.
Background: Aortic wall shear stress (WSS) is a known predictor of ascending aortic growth in patients with a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). The aim of this study was to study regional WSS and changes over time in BAV patients.
Methods: BAV patients and age-matched healthy controls underwent four-dimensional (4D) flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).
Background: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is a common congenital heart defect. Patients with BAV are at risk for long-term complications such as valve stenosis and regurgitation. This study aimed to investigate sex differences in blood and imaging biomarkers and to describe the long-term prognostic value of blood and echocardiographic biomarkers.

Methods: CTs of 3089 consecutive patients referred to the radiology department for a routine contrast-enhanced chest CT between 27-5-2020 and 31-12-2020, were retrospectively analysed by a CE-certified and FDA-approved AI algorithm. The diagnostic performance of the AI was compared to the initial report.
