Purpose: To determine the effect of low hypermetropia correction and orthoptic exercises on binocular visual function in children with symptomatic convergence insufficiency.

Methods: This was a prospective, randomized intervention with a 3-month follow-up. Consecutive pediatric patients with convergence insufficiency and hypermetropia who met inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups: spectacle correction and orthoptic training (group 1), spectacle correction alone (group 2) and orthoptic training alone (group 3).

This study provides comprehensive overview of the current level, sources and human exposure risk to hazardous polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in South American outdoor air. Research documents were obtainable for only 6 countries within the target period (2014 - 2024). For all contaminants, urban concentrations exceeded that of rural/remote locations.

MyD88 deficiency is a rare inborn error of immunity (IEI) characterized by susceptibility to pyogenic infections without overt signs of inflammation. Half of the reported patients belong to Roma descent, an itinerant ethnic group living mostly in Europe, with an increased risk of childhood mortality due to limited access to healthcare services. We describe three unrelated patients from the Campania region in Italy with MyD88 deficiency, all belonging to Roma descent and displaying severe or recurrent infections in early infancy.
