Oral cancer is primarily squamous-cell carcinoma with a 5-year survival rate of approximately 50%. Lysyl oxidase (LOX) participates in collagen and elastin maturation. The propeptide of LOX is released as an 18 kDa protein (LOX-PP) in the extracellular environment by procollagen C-proteinases and has tumor-inhibitory properties.

These rains bring cooler temperature and account for roughly half of the annual precipitation making them important for biogeochemical processes. The intensity of the monsoon rains also increase flooding in urban areas and rely on green infrastructure (GI) stormwater management techniques such as water harvesting and urban rain gardens to capture runoff.

These aggressive and virulent infections are often not detected until there is a positive blood culture for PA, meaning the patient already has bacteremia. An assay that rapidly detects PA while it is still present at low numbers within the burn wound could therefore be transformative, as it would allow for early and more effective treatment intervention.
