Recurrence rate and quality of life in women with borderline ovarian tumours, according to surgical approach.

Objectives: To assess the recurrence rate and quality of life (QOL) in women with a history of borderline ovarian tumours (BOTs) based on the type of surgery (conservative vs non-conservative) in Spain.

Study Design: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 85 women treated for BOTs between 2007 and 2023 at two hospitals. QOL questionnaires were administered face-to-face to eligible patients.

Nasal myiasis: an infrequent cause of sinusitis in a critical care patient.

A patient in his 70s, admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit with cardiogenic shock, unexpectedly presented with nasal myiasis during a workup for persistently elevated inflammatory markers. CT scans revealed sinusitis and bronchial secretions, while bronchoscopy identified mucus with positive pathogen testing. Nasal endoscopy was crucial in diagnosing myiasis, and immediate mechanical removal of larvae was performed.

This research investigates the influence of tibial rotations with knee flexion (KF) on the electromyographic (EMG) activities of hamstring muscles (HM) groups and the strength ratio between the medial and lateral rotation of the tibia. A cross-sectional design was employed to assess muscle activity, isometric strength and reliability. The research was conducted in a controlled laboratory environment.

Background: Despite vaccination, patients receiving anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for multiple sclerosis (MS) or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) have an increased risk of developing severe or protracted COVID-19. The aim of this study was to describe the effect of COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) in patients with MS or NMOSD exposed to anti-CD20 and infected by SARS-CoV-2.

Methods: This French national, retrospective cohort study was conducted between November 2020 and June 2023.
