High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

: Malnutrition is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in patients who undergo cardiac surgery. Nevertheless, objective assessment of malnourished patients undergoing heart transplantation (HT) is limited. We aimed to analyze the relationship between the malnutrition status and the early and late clinical outcomes of patients undergoing HT using a novel semi-quantitative tool.

Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is effective for treating heart failure but is under-researched in patients with common comorbidities like atrial fibrillation (AF).
  • The SMART registry enrolled 2035 patients to assess CRT response based on clinical outcomes over 12 months, focusing on factors like all-cause mortality, hospitalizations, and quality of life.
  • Results showed 58.9% of patients improved, but factors like age, AF, and diabetes were linked to lower CRT responsiveness, with patients having AF experiencing higher rates of hospitalizations and mortality compared to those in normal rhythm.

Aims: Military veterans exposed to stressful or traumatic events may experience adjustment difficulties in the post-deployment period, developing a high risk of mental health-related issues. Promising complementary practices such as Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) are now widely used, although standardized protocols are missing. The present study aimed to develop an EAT standardized intervention.
